With the way the engine is turning over it would seem some cylinders don't have as much compression as others. Are you sure the valves are adjusted correctly? Do you have fuel pressure?

The engine has to be running first before the "rockets" can be adjusted, Maj. Tom.

Sometimes, however in this instance it would appear you were anxious to try and be clever and it didn't work out too well for you. My response was in reference to old93camaro's suggestion to adjust rockers while engine is running. If you need me to take you through step by step to aid you in understanding I'd be more than happy.

the motor cranks great when i unplug the coil. it sounds even all round. and iv done the rockers 4 times and there is no way they r too tight. if anything i might have done em too loose. im gettin almost 50 psi when the pump primes and when i crank.

Might be a dumb question, but did you make sure the opti harness is plugged in?
Also, I'd at least do a compression check on all cylinders. They sound horribly uneven.

New cap and rotor it is! That could very well have been why you have been having these problems.

Ew... never supposed to force the opti on. Regardless if it's a splined shaft or dowel pin it should go on very easily.

i didnt really force it on lol. there was just a very lil space between the opti and the front cover. and this being my first time putting an opti on i didnt know it should be flush. but live and learn i guess. so after my new opti comes in everything should be fine.
