Default Question about harness' and NHRA techs.

Just recieved my harness' today, they are way long and have a ton of extra slack in them. I would like to cut off some of the excess material and remelt the ends. I remelted one end with an iron and it looks good but not nearly as clean as from the factory. If a tech notices this will I get a ton of crap for, I don't see why I should but I'm not sure.

i just read the NHRA rule book general regulations and it didn't say anything about modifying them for length. I'd call your local NHRA tech director, he/she is usually listed in National Dragster or # can be gotten from a local track.

Our local track is switching from IHRA to NHRA. I'm not sure if all the guys are up to speed with the new rules yet but I will call the track and see if they can give me a name.

Thanks,
Andrew

im pretty sure that anything that is S.F.I. is not to be altered except by the manufacturer so they can re cert it,

Well, I played with the settings on the iron a little more the other day. My melted end now looks exacly like a factory end, I don't think any tech would notice it (esspecialy since I will only be going to steet nights and open track days). I'm only cutting the top section of the shoulder belts after they wrap around the cross bar.

JS- I did buy camlocks. I drive the car everyday in the summer so they were the only way to go.

I would not have cut them but sounds like you fixed them.

Good luck.
