This is my new best on the 150 shot. Watch at the end. The shiney thing that flys up is the hood. It landed paint side up and only minor stress cracking in the reinforcements on the underside. I drive my car to and from the track and it's 45 miles each way and I still stop for dinner on the way home.

Good run. I've seen that same thing happen on the street right in front of me with my friends Cobra. I had to slam on the brakes so it wouldn't land on my hood. :eek2:

Brings a whole new meaning to the term "big air!" Glad it didn't do the old slap on the windshield bit, or that could have gotten real expensive in a hurry!

One reason why the new hood I'll have will run aerocatch pins.

It's a full lift off with just zeus fasteners. I had a hood pin in the center front. I don't know the exact name but it, well, (a sliding clip style) had been locking on there fine. Then that morning just going down the street at 45 mph it flew off. So I went back to the house and found another one, different style, but it fit really good so I headed out. It made it through the 9.89@133 pass on the 100 shot. Then I found out that the extra 3 mph of air flow just pulled it up off the post and once that happened it just ripped my hood and aluminum mounting strips clean off the fenders with the zues fasteners still locked. I'm so glad it was a full lift off or it would have took out the windshield because the hinges would have gave it a pivot point.

Well I have to say VFN hoods are extremly durable. It was atleast 40 feet in the air. It did graze the top of the windshield and I think if I had lifted or if it was windy it would have done more damage. Which would have only sucked because I wouldn't have been able to drive home. The windshield is coming out this winter anyway to add the bars to make my 6 point into a 10 point cage. It's a good thing I work at a auto glass shop.

I'm more pissed that I didn't break the Alaska LSX record of 9.74 then the hood flying off. lol...

The only topside damage.

Bottom side damage. Just a handful of these stress cracks.

And of course. Being a true street car. Ratchet straps to drive the 45 miles back home because it didn't fit in the back. Haha... And I still stopped at subway for dinner.

No backfires here. Just the air flow that did it.

No. It is a TA. With a WS9 vfn hood. The hatch has been changed.
I really didn't want to see what was going to happen next. That was the third um.. not so good thing to happen to the car that day and it was getting worse each time so I wasn't going to take any chances. So I quit while I was still, well atleast breaking even. lol There's always next summer when I'm legal to go that fast. I need to upgrade the 6 point roll bar to a 10 point cage and get my sfi jacket and gear.

Honestly. I don't know. It was on the car when I bought it. It's a VFN WS9 lift off hood. Very durable and has held up to my test of it. lol.

Damn. So it would cost me about $1500 because of our over size overweight bend over your in Alaska charges.

Yeah I keep watching the video and am still shocked it did as well as it did. I was expecting atleast 2 pieces and being able to just fold it up and put it in the back. HAHA... I still tried to put it in the back but the 6 point roll bar was in the way.
