Default LT1 clutch fluid change

I want to change the fluid in the hydraulic clutch system on my 97 LT1.
I have done lots of searching but only found posts about bleeding the system, not draining and refilling with fresh fluid and then bleeding.
I got my car up on stands with the idea I would disconnect the line at the slave and with a helper pump fluid out whilst keeping the reservior topped up with fresh fluid. I would then finish by following the procedure in the factory service manual for bleeding the system. Unfortunately the line to the slave is held on with some sort of pin and doesn't appear to be a removeable item.
I have checked into the cost of buying the pre-bled complete system but shipping costs (UK) are stupid high for some reason, so I'm looking for a DIY way of getting fresh fluid throughout the system.
Why? Because I suspect its the original fluid in there and after 60K miles and 13 years its got to be past its best!
Anyone done this? What did you do?
All help appreciated.
