Default Mcleod Bellhousing - knock out plate - I am an idiot?

Do I have to knock this piece out for the starter? Install instructions say nothing about it.

yea you have to "knock" it out. good luck with that, it's not punched out and is welded as you can see. Cutoff wheels are your friend. Mcleod is only 40 minutes away from me, i should have taken it back for them to do it since their tech guy thought i was retarded for having so much difficulty.

As Wicked mentioned above use a cutoff wheel to remove it, it's the fastest and easiest way. I also had issues with the rear of my oil pan hitting the scattershield. I had to open up the crank hole in the oil pan area for it to clear (stock pan). McLeod claimed they had never heard of this issue before, anywas it wasn't a big deal, I used a Die grinder with a carbide bur and 20mins later it was fixed.

I had to clearance for my Milodon pan as well. It was nice to put everything together and notice that the drain plug had 1/2 of clearance to the scatter sheild.

Mine is far from an exact cut job too. I cut slices in it with the grinder then bent the pieces out with vice grips.
