Default transbrake on 4l60e

Im not sure if this is a dumb question or not but im looking for some insight here people. I've been wanting to put a transbrake on my 4l60e and don't know if there is such a thing as a" bolt on" transbrake or am i going to have to take a hit and buy a whole new tranny with a transbrake built in?

It can be done however it is more than just a simple bolt on. There are internal mods that have to be done the transmission components and the valve body. If this is something that you would like to have us do for you on a new built FLT transmission please give us a call. Vince

Would it be cheaper and easier just to buy a new one that has a transbrake installed or is it worth it to use the stock tranny? The reason im asking is because im trying to work this off of a budget and also i've had the tranny built to handle 550 who from what i was told so just curious Im not to firmiliar with the 4l60e

According to raybestos, they filed for patent rights for 4l60e transbrake valvebodys some 10 years ago....but never brought their version to market.

I would not consider installing a trans brake in a stock unit. To me it just does not make sense. As I posted earlier there are mods that have to be done to the unit in order to make this work. Added clutches, stiffer springs holes drilled in the valve body and so on. So to answer your question I would only do this on a new built flt unit.
