Default plugging heater hose connections

My car no longer has the heater core in it. I would like to tap and plug the heater hose connections. Can I do this without running into problems with the engine running hot?

I can't see where it'll hurt anything. My car has a Vintage Air Gen III system with a positive shut-off heater valve (which is "off" 98% of the time) and I've never had any issues...

A maverick with an LS. Awesome! I'm still working on swapping the LQ4 into my 73 camaro. Running a carb setup with the GMPP Hot cam, Holley street avenger carb, Edelbrock headers, TH350 trans. Hope to get it running soon before the snow flies!
