It is for warranty purposes so u can't beat the crap out of your car stock it retards the timing when u punch it from a dead stop.

It would need to be changed in the PCM, so the only way to disable it is through a tune.

Pick yourself up a cheap HPtuners setup used and do it yourself. Its pretty easy to disable or at least reduce its effects with HPtuners. I don't think I would completely disable it with a stock 60E as they are not the toughest transmissions and TM is there to protect the transmission.

In my experience eliminating TM bought me no measurable performance
gain. If you are being bugged by the sensation of a torque-cut, that
has more to do with how fast your shift cycle gets it done. I have the
TM mellowed out a little (limiting the spark cut) but still active, and the
shift pressures set up nicely, and you can't tell the trans is still being
protected.

These transmissions weren't made to take a beating. Do yourself a favor
and don't just eliminate protective features, or your next post will be
"broken tranny, boo hoo".

I turned off the traction control based torque cut on an AWD truck and
it took the guy only a week or two to grenade that trans. Nothing like
power on one end, traction on the other, and a beer can in the middle.

You can disable it but like other people have said...it may protect the tranny.
When I had my 98 z28 I got the vinci handheld tuner and I disabled TM with it.
I have a tune on my car now but not sure it its disabled or not. I know the shift points are firmed up thats for sure
