95 Trans Am LT1 Build Thread.
Just purchased this Clean 95 Trans am about 2 weeks ago. The previous owner had the engine die on him going down the road, spuna few bearing in the bottom end, and didnt want to Fix it so he placed an add on craigslist and i purchased it very reasonable.
The Car has 107,000 Miles Very Clean interior M6 Lt1 Extreme Energy Cam Stock heads Stock TB Shorty Headers 3 inch Exhaust w/ Hooker Muffler. Valeo Clutch Stock rear end.
The Wheels are Boyd coddington Junkyard Dogs 17x10 All four Corners.
Car Has WS6 Badge on the bumper and the TB Has a WS6 PLate on it. BUt I HAve heard that WS6 did not Come as an option on a 95.
Since Purchase I have Pulled the motor Tore it down and it should be back from the machine shop this week. I have Purchased TRW Forged Pistons 11.5 CR, a GM Crank that has already been machined 10/10 And I Had a Set of Forged Rods on the Shelf already form another build. The Rotating Assembly will be balanced and the Mains will be Align honed. I Will Be using ARP Main Bolts and Head Bolts. Keeping the Cam that is in the Car. It is an Extreme Energy with .503/.510 lift and 224/230 Duration. Heads will be stock unless i decide to port them out i have not decided yet. Bought a MCleod clutch and a 4.11 Detroit Locker for the Rear end. Also Bought some GFG Radial G-Force ta's 275-40-17's for the front and 315-35-17's for the rear.
Things i need to figure out are if i should buy axles for the car or not. Was planning on running the stock ones atleast till they break then buying new ones. Also If i should port the heads.... I Really would like this car to run in the 12's on the motor and spray it to the 11's. Also Need to get a Tune on the Computer, There is a place in Norwalk ohio called crt that mostly do fords but they will do GM Also. They have a Dyno to tune with but was thinkin about going with a mail order tune to keep the cost down.
Think this will Go 12's on the motor?? Obviously it will Count on the Driver. But does it have the Potential too? ALso I Am trying to keep this a Budget build. I have already gone over budget but i plan on keeping the car for awhile.

Sweet. I just want to smoke some friends with mustangs. And still have less money in my car then they do. And my cousin has an 02 ZO6 and I would love to be able to walk that car with the bottle.

Well got my motor back from the machine shop. And everything looks good. The only thing that ki need help with is findingf a timing chain. Since the block was align bored I need a shorter chain. I have looked and called jegs but can't find a shorter chain for an LT1. Will a stock sbc chain work with my sprockets or what do I need to do??

I did for about 6-8 months after I blew my 383 up. I bought a complete motor because I trashed everything in my motor. I bought it for 300 bucks and just used all my bolt-ons I already had. When I got ready I pulled it out and built the 355 I have now. I was going to stay stock bottom end but I found a chunked out cam bearing and the machine shop fooked 4 of my pistons up pressing them off the rod during disassembly because I was going to get it balanced. So, I built a 355 with forged pistons and rods with a stock crank. But yeah, the motor was strong and had more bottom end torque than the alumnium headed LT1. I think it was in the cam.
