Exclamation Help with LS6 Running on LS2 ECU & Harness

Well here it goes..... I have a 06 CTS V just the chassis w/wire harness & ecu, no powertrain. What I've picked up is a 05 CTS V with a LS6 as the donor. Of course the 06 CTS V is set up for a LS2. Now that I've just about gotten everything Cam,Heads,Headers. Now I'm learning there's "possible" reluctor wheel difference 24x to 58x. What direction am I going to need to go in get this done. Stroker??? If so, what am I going to need to complete this other than a 58x Stroker kit?

You'd have to pull the crankshaft out of the motor and replace the reluctor (24x to a 58x), or swap cranks for 58X crank. You'd also need to resolve the issue with the cam sensor move as well (extend the wiring harness). Also, you'd have to make arrangements for the knocks sensors as well.

Best bet would be to sell/trade the Ls6 for an Ls2 that will fit without having to do all the monkeying around unless you understand what all is involved (which it appears you do not).

You said you bought heads, what heads did you buy?

You'll need a tune to account for extra cubes and different injectors and such but if you extend the cam sensor, adapt the fuel injectors, drill/tap the outside (LS2) knock sensor holes to M10x1.5 and extend the LS1/6 knock sensors out there, you'll be set for about $150 in adapter harnesses. Everything else should bolt up.

you would also need to figure out if the ls2 is 58x or 24x. The ls6 will be 24 if you look at the ls2 crank sensor a black one indicates a 24x wheel gray is 58 x also by looking at the wheel itself. 24x has few large teeth the 58 has many small ones...

if thats the case no big deal lingenfelter sells a box to use a 58x motor on a 24x pcm it costs about 250

Yes on drilling but it's an existing hole so the whole deal is about 5 minutes for both sides. Take out the LS2 knock sensors, drill/tap and screw in your LS1 knock sensors. Most vendors(I got mine from Racetronix) sell the harnesses to extend the cam sensor, extend the knock sensors, adapt the injectors if you are going to the later injectors.

Redbird is absolutely right about the reluctor.. What year/vehicle did your LS2 come out of?
