Exclamation I dont know what to do?!?!

I currently have a 1998 Pontiac Firebird series 3800 v6 engine and i want to increase my top speed...because i max out at like 120... Next year im doing a ls1 swap, but until then i want to get a higher top speed.. .. I have preformance tires on my car so i know i can take it... but i dont want to spend like 300 dollars for a programer? any options???

i think maybe a chip will help. on my 97 vortek v6 stepside i had i did all the up grades possible but would cut out at 95. Bought an after market chip and it fixed that. Should be the same on your car..

BUT, you know why they have that MPH shut off on the V6's? So those stock 6 pistons dont get thrown threw you hood.. But if you dont "over do it" it ought to be fine after the chip upgrade. Dont expect to go 140+ like an ls1 though..

Shouldnt be goin 120 anyway IMO. Atleast not on street. Track yea but not 1/4 mile in a V6(unless you really soup it up anyway). Ive had my LS1 for a year now and love it but ive had it only to 110 at a place WAY out of town for 4 sec. or so.

stop putting any money into your v6. sell the v6 when your ready and pick up a late model ls1. swap isnt worth it, specially with the prices of ls1's dropping at a steady rate.
