I was there. Posted over on YB too, but will copy and paste over here too.
Family medical problems kept me away from racing, but I was able to sneak up Sunday to watch the finals. I can honestly say one of the smoothest ran finals I've seen in a while.
Major props to PSJ and everyone else involved in making this happen. I think everyone there could "sense" the opportunity to make this thing HUGE in years to come.
Also, thanks to LMR and Koehler for bringing out their big guns and making some passes. And a big "wow" note to that blue with yellow striped 3rd gen! Damn near took out the LMR car!

John, I seen you when you guys were coming in on Friday but I didn't really see you the rest of the weekend. I wanted to cruise around and talk to people but I had a lot going on and Family with me. So I didn't get around much other then talking to vendors.
We had a up and down weekend.
It started off good on Friday as my car ran a few pb's at 10.06, 10.03 then a 9.98@134.
Then in T/S it got really hot on the 30 mile drive (250 degree) and would not run very well on the 3 passes. The plugs got hot and gassed up. So it ran shitty and ended up with a 11.463 avg. I was going for 11.000.
Then in index, I lost in the first round. I was going for the 10.50 index and ran a 10.899 to the other guys 13.238 on a 13.000 index.
My car spun hard 1.88 60'.
All in all we had a great time. I will for sure go again next year. I hope everyone else does aswell. This is a great event that does NOT have to be GM bodied specific.

I gotta say this was by far the best LS event of the past couple years. The venue was great, covered grandstand FTW! Having the autocross out there was awesome. The car show guys had a great place to setup with lots of shade. Vender area was great, and had a great turnout for a first year event. Overall A++ to everyone that had a hand in this. I really hope they continue this. It felt like what the shootout could have been if it stepped away from NMCA and I hope that this years showing at LSfest is a good indicator that even in a shitty ass econonmy a stand alone LS event can pull in reasonable numbers!

I think this was the best yet by far. The shootout in 07' was fun, but that was because it was new too...kinda like hookin up with a new lady...haha. I think the rain scared off a lot of guys, but we see the real hardcore guys ain't skeered of no rain.
I was there, my face and neck are red, and i'm tired as hell from running 2 cars and trying to participate in everything there was to offer.
Props to the big guns for showing up even with a lackluster car count, but shit we have to start somewhere!

I had a blast! Got to make plenty of passes, was able to have a shot at 2 different classes. and I ended up winner in the Bracket race. never missed a shift all weekend
Track went to shit and car slowed up 1st round of index, my 60's went from 1.52 to 1.68... and went 11.10 to 11.03 both of us on 11.00 index.
but I think it was an awesome event with lots of action always going on.
thanks to everyone for putting on a good show, cant wait till next year!
So how High to I got to rev my stock 6.0L short block to get some attention? was 8200 not enough? i'd come out of the burnout box on the high side... haha

I was there with two of my cars! One was the 1987 Luxury sport Monte Carlo with the camaro dash and functions and the other was the Calico Cam Only camaro. Had a great time and a great weekend. Placed first in my class with the LS1 Monte and got Fifth in the bracket class with the camaro. Bad thing was that I beat myself on a great run. I redlighted a -.031 and dialed an 11.24 and ran an 11.243 so if I woulda cut a bad light woud still have been hard to beat!

I had an awesome weekend as well, although the sun kicked my ass! I really enjoy the LSX Shootout and NMCA event, but it was pretty neat having an event to ourselves. Hopefully it showed enough promise that Holley will decide to make this an annual event. Beech Bend is an awsome facility, you can't really ask for a beter place to race.
I was just happy to get my car together and drive it down for the weekend. Ended up entering the car show to help support the event by participating. I had the black GTO on mesh wheels and the F1A Procharger.
Big thanks to Mark and the whole Ohio Boys crew. I wasn't sure if I could get off work for this event, so I ended up making a decision at the last minute. They had an extra hotel room, and were kind enough to keep it booked so I'd have somewhere to stay for the weekend.
Really can't say enough about the character of the racers at this event. Everyone is a competitor by nature, but I never saw anyone afraid to lend a helping hand to another racer in need. Looking forward to next month already!

It was a great time and met a lot of good people. With the weather there was a good turnout and the event ran very well. Thanks Holley, PSJ and all the rest of the organizers for putting it on. I would hate to see how bad my racoon eyes would have looked if the weather was perfect all 3 days. Beech Bend was an ideal facility to put on a variety of events to keep things moving.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys! I think that the event went very well considering what the weather was doing.
Thanks to John Ryan for his enthusiasm and continued passion.
Also I wanted to say thanks to Jeff Conley and Jeff Tucker. They were the Drag Race staff and race director. They juggled the qualifying and schedule several times to fit the weather conditions. From a spectators point of view it was very smooth.
Jimi Days crew as well as the Holley gang were very serious about producing a first class event. No detail was too small. Nice job!
Also a huge thanks to Holley for getting the huge media turnout. When the magazine and Horepower TV coverage comes out it should be huge.
I was very impressed with the caliber of Editorial Staff present at the Fest.
It was cool to hang out with fellow racers again. Poor Mark will re think pitting close to me in the future LOL. Sorry buddy!
Hope to see everyone at the LSX Shootout!

Yeah Doug is out in warrenton now. I def had luck on my side, I couldnt get the car to run 10.5 and had traction problems so I unhooked the secondaries, which made it 11.0 but killed my lights
Secondaries? What are those? :)
Get that turbo kit and you will "never" break out again

I was there and finally ran my car for the first time. I've somehow managed to drag this project car out for over a year. The second pass was 10.79 @ 127, with a sad 1.77 sixty foot. I'm just glad no parts fell off! :drive:

Holy crap man I loved your car. What motor mounts did you use? IIRC you have about a inch between the head and firewall?
I was there Saturday. I didn't show or race my car. I feel its not worthy enough yet. For my first all LSX show it couldn't have been better. There was always something going on and little down time even after the rain. I can't wait till next year!!
Thanks. I used Carshop Inc 1" setback plates. Used Hookers first but no room whatsoever.

had a blast.. still working on a intake setup for my z06 so i drove down in the camaro. Awesome time watching Keith Berry, LMR, the NEXT crew and some of the other heavy weights. Seen some good stuff saturday night with the 1320video crew. LSX Shootout has its hands full this year trying to top this one! We need to organize somewhere where we can all meet up at night to hang so its not so scattered.

That was us...Street Elite Performance. We're local to Bowling Green and make a mount kit for the LS into Nissan S chassis. We were shooting for the Grand Champion so we were stuck on street tires and had some issues in True Street. It was tough finding time to run everything, but damn it was fun!

So how High to I got to rev my stock 6.0L short block to get some attention? was 8200 not enough? i'd come out of the burnout box on the high side... haha
Can't believe I fell asleep on the lights in the final round!!! It just proves you can't give your apponent a .5 headstart and win. You deserve the win and My congrats to you from the runner up!!! (2010 Camaro...ran 1.94 60 foot times and .013 to .125 reaction times the entire event and then did a .5 RT on the final run).

The magazines that I remember off the top of my head are as follows: Chevy High Performance, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding, Gm High Tech Performance, FSC, Horsepower, Super Chevy, & Camaro Performers. I may be missing one but I don't think so.
