OK I purchased a Vararam intake kit and it does not fit. The hood contacts the top of the air filter and shoves it onto the upper radiator hose...Any suggestions?

he has a 2006 GTO, Silver with Black interior.

and what he left out is...that in the directions, you have to cut out part of the radiator shroud. and in doing this, i think over triple the amount of cutting was required by the directions. and it still contacts the hood, putting pressure on to the radiator hose. which in turn has started to produce a thin spot in the hose.

big thing here is, what type on intakes are you guys running or would you recommend.

I installed the Vararam and it fits fine, your hood liner will touch the very top of the upper part of the filter and it has made a little bit of a cut into the liner. Make sure you cut far enough down on the radiator shroud. The first cut i made was not far enough down. In doing so i cut away some brackets that hold the smaller coolant lines against the shroud, but that was nothing that some zip ties couldn't fix. I wasn't impressed with the fit and finish of it, but I picked up a tenth over stock in the 1/8 mile. Havent had it on the quarter yet. And yes the da's were the same. So i guess it is working. You're only other option would be the Svede intake, which is probably better than the v-ram, but there is a six month or more waiting list.

The Svede intake is going to be going into mass production fairly soon. Maybe offered in carbon fiber as well.

this is true...my dad (olgoat) got his GTO for 12 Gs less then i paid for my V...

but i have 4 doors, and a more comfy interior...and the same power with almost the same weight

but the GTOs are very nice, and would have love to see them (and the Firebird) continue on with the Camaro.

i contemplated this intake /\ .. I need room to run a nitrous plate though and this does not allow room for a MAF and nitrous plate though unfortunately.

My intake will work with a FAST manifold, FAST TB, nitrous plate and any MAF you want all at the same time.

And I gave my vararam away. IMO, Ugliest CAI on the market period.

Maybe 2 months. We have to get caught up on the back orders and then it should be in stock altho the orders have been coming in pretty fast

OK, prior to purchasing the Vararam I informed both the manufacturer and the online reseller of exactly what I had. The day I went to install it I realized that it was not going to fit a represented. Now 6 weeks later it looks like I have some wall-art. I would offer this OTR POS to anyone for free but there is a serious fit problem: the unit, installed per instructions, bears down on the upper radiator hose, which resulted in rubbing against a wire guide for the driver side fan. If you have one of these on your Goat check the hose at the guide. When the hose blows it's messy and of course potentially devastating to your engine. My is an 06 but the LS1 could have similar issues.

I ditched my VR for that reason. The fitment flat out sucked. Will be switching to a CF Svede as soon as they are available.
