Default Can you get a 1998-02 trans am ws6 with low milage for under $15,000?

Hey guys I was wondering if you think i could pick up a 1998-02 trans am ws6 stock with under 35k miles with no wrecks for under $15,000? No special paint jobs or modifications just plain black on black stock.

Thanks,
Dylan

Absolutely and probably easily. Specifically black on black not so easily but plausable.

I would say definitely YES, especially a '98 to '00. The newer the model the tougher to find in the price range but you should be able to get a really nice 'one or two owner' example that is in very good to excellent condition which is what you want. Your mileage of 35k is the key here. If you said less than 20k miles then it would be tougher, but even then, very possible.

YES! But you have to be patient and search everywhere possible (autotrader,cars,ebay,ls1tech,ls1.com, etc.) I bought mines off the classifieds here in the forums (20,800 miles and I paid $15k). Right now would be the best time to buy because of the season so get on it now! Good luck

I dont have a car, but was looking and found a few, just got to be patient and look every where like stated before. And if you don't mind traveling craigslist is a great place to search.. a lot of spam and scams but some really pay off.

Remember where you are, a place where boasts and hidden stories abound. It is true on every car forum, not just here. Owners may brag about the great price they paid but fail to mention the salvage title or accident history, or the car that was previously owned by a teenager that abused the hell out of it. You generally get what you pay for. There are exceptions but such occurences are unusual.

I think it's not so much about the mileage but the overall condition of the vehicle. When I was searching for one I look country wide for mine and found cars with low miles but weren't well taken care of. I've seen cars with high miles in great condition and cars with low miles that look like hell. My advice is to throughly inspect the car especially underneath and watch out for ones that spent most of it's life on the east coast or snowy climate states for rust and corrosion.

Also if you carfax the vehicle don't totally put faith in it. Although some cars appear to be carfax clean but some may have small damage that was fix without ever reporting it by the insurance co.

Goodluck with your search!

I remember when I was looking for a ws6 and you helped me alot with the values etc. When I bought mines I was able to check it out right at the owners home. It says a lot about what kind of upkeep the car has had seeing exactly where it was garaged, and mines had some nice company in it's garage; a mint 67' Camaro

Thanks for the kind words. I've been around awhile and try to help out, especially on the 'What it's worth' section of the classifieds.

I did buy mine from a middle aged women. She bought it brand new when she heard 2002 was going to be the last year. She had a Smokey and the Bandit 78 when she was younger, so she wasn't new to the Firebird world; but my car is in great condition with its maintance and whatnot. it just needs a good buffing and wax on the back tailights and front bumper.

Well I plan on heavily moding my Trans Am so I was glad to get what I found. A running 00 WS6. The Trans was f*cked and the rearend is about dead but it fired up without ANY hesitation, body was in really good shape along with the interior. 120K miles. A friend rebuilt the trans for $1500. But the kicker is I only paid $3500! But it depends on what you have in mind for your car. If I wanted to keep it bone stock, it would have been even better to rebuild the trans and rearend and take the engine apart to check things out and maybe rebuild it. Still would have paid about what you're looking to pay. Good luck on getting what you're lookin for!

The black on black 98-99s are pretty rare.

BTW if you want an A4 thats price if very doable...I just sold a VERY nice 02 WS6 with 64000 on it for 11,500. Had it been a 6spd I would have gotten $14,500 plus for it.

where are you located, they are out there, but the 01-02's are still commanding a decent dollar depending on shape, milage, etc... i found an 01 SOM Ws6, auto, full exhaust with like 50k for 15k in jacksonville fl.. check autotrader and our site and other car forums..good luck

Quick Reply: Can you get a 1998-02 trans am ws6 with low milage for under $15,000?
