Correct me if im wrong, but to reset the oil change light you need to put the car in accessory and floor the gas pedal 3 times, and thats it.

To reset the light turn the key to run (engine off) and either hold the odometer reset until the oil light flashes. Or press the gas pedal to the floor 6 to 8 times or until the oil light flashes.

Oil capacity is 5 1/2 quarts with the standard filter or 6 quarts with the longer truck filter.

My '99 sierra owners manual says to put the key forward without starting it and push the gas pedal to the floor three times.

I just reset mine this week. Turn the key to the Accessory position. Hold down the Trip reset button on the odometer until the oil light turns off. That's it. It took me over 10 seconds for my light to turn off, so don't expect it to turn off too quickly.

I've never heard of the gas pedal reset that the others are talking about.

The gas pedal reset will work in any car from GM with an oil change light or computer with oil life expressed as a percentage. The other methods differ between models.
