Sad to say I no longer own a GM car worthy of a LSx, but I've come in search of good information and I know I can find it here.
First, I'm a longtime F-Body owner, I've owned a 1970 1/2 RA III Trans Am, a brand new Brewster Green 1973 Trans Am, a brand new 1980 Turbo Trans Am, a SCCA Solo CP 1970 Formula Firebird, and finally a 1994 Z28 that I autocrossed for about 3 years or so.
I'm not a drag racer, I like the road racing/autocross side of things. And that leads me to why I'm here!
I co-drive this car, it's a 1974 Porsche 914 with a SBC 355 engine that runs in E Modified class within the SCCA Solo autocross rules. It currently has a heavy 1969 Z28 block, distributor, and carburetor. Not what we need for what we're doing. We want EFI, computer, no worries.
So I'm here to find the best combination of parts to use/build with a LSx engine. I know we'll have a few mounting issues to overcome but it shouldn't be too bad.
Here's the pics. I haven't even driven it yet, that's coming up in a few weeks. The car weighs 1850 lbs and has approximately 400 hp. It uses a 284 Comp Cam camshaft and does have aluminum heads but I don't know which ones. It's running 11.1 compression. That's the other things we're not too keen about, we'd rather run pump fuel.
Here's the specs on the motor as I know it:
Engine
Fresh 355 cu in SBC
Balanced
ARP Fasteners
Comp XE284H Camshaft
Melling Heavy Duty Oil Pump
Moroso baffled oil pan
Aluminum Cylinder Heads 2.02 intake / 1.60 exhaust 195cc intake runners
Eagle Rods
11.0 to one Hypertechnic pistons
Engine support bar for SBC to 914, moroso mounts, bolts.
Rod Simpson Radiator and fans, 1.25" fittings
Mezeire 35gph remote water pump
Desert Hybrids water fittings and hose
wire wound 1.25" coolant hose
Hedman Headers
2-1/2" Flowmaster Mufflers
MSD 6AL Rev Control Ignition
Jaz 1qt overflow tank
Holley electric fuel pump
Anyway, here she is!
