Default Tuner wants to drill a hole in my TB

Hi there. My car is your normal ms3/fast h/c/i car. We are having problems with the idle when pushing in the clutch. The rpms will bounce between 300 and 1200 until you come to a complete stop for a few seconds, then it will settle at 800-900. If I don't come to a complete stop it will keep doing this indefinitely. My tuner has tried a few things but now he wants to drill a hole in my fast tb because he thinks this will fix the problem. What's your take on this? I think it's going to cause more problems than it will fix.

Edit: Using HPTuners @ high altitude 6k

I understand the part about not getting enough air. But aren't the parameters that you can set to change that in the tune? Also couldn't we get the same results by setting that screw on the tb that changes the rest angle of the blade?

So four new tuner recomendations and one other. lol

Hopefully frost or some of the other knowledgeable tuner guys puts in their two cents.

You can adjust the TB open by the set screw and reset the TPS sensor. There is no need to drill a hole in the TB.

Adjusting the blade and tweaking the follower and cracker tables will get it done. If your tuner doesn't know those basics, get a new one.

Software is only as good as the person using it. Nothing wrong with HPT. I don't see what this has to do with the OP question.

Just so we are on the same page

HPT = 02 SLP & SS & Z28 Auto 12212156 .bin = Total Parameters : 572

JET = 02 SLP & SS & Z28 Auto 12212156 .bin = Total Parameters: 609

EFILive = 02 SLP & SS & Z28 Auto 12212156 .bin = Total Parameters : 680

I own all 3

It can be very hard to tune if you don't have all of the parameters.

If you have JET it can be very hard to tune with no Scan-ware

I agree, but if the tuner can't tune out this issue you could add 1000 more fields and he would still want to drill the TB.

This setup is a very common setup that can be tuned with any of the major tuning programs HPT, EFI etc.
