Default Dont know what to do next.

I had a marble like sound coming from my pass side head and low oil pressure for only a minute, was also smoking some too. So i pulled the valve cover and inspected the springs and they look good. Then I pulled the head, expecting a broken lifter but there all intact. I tried pushing on the lifters with the end of a pushrod and it wont budge. Is there a correct way of checking these. I cant think of what else it could be that could cause this. By the way the oil pressure went back to normal after the car sat for about 30 min when I tried to find the noise . I will probably take the heads to a machine shop to see what they find, I should have done more trouble shooting before pulling the heads but thought for sure there was something broke.

I doubt that it is a lifter.
