Which pressure in high volume oil pump? I've got the GM high volume oil pump from lingenfelter:

Are there any disadvantages to leaving the higer pressure spring in it?

Well, higher pressure typically means more internal frictional losses. How much? Minimal I would assume. I would use the high pressure spring to see higher pressure with larger clearances, such as a rebuilt SB or a block with ~0.002-0.003" clearances. Those engines will typically show much lower pressure, and as long as you're around 50-55# @ red line during WOT, you should be good. Any more than that is just excessive.

I'm running their high-volume ported oil pump... I was at 50-60psi hot idle and it would almost peg the needle at 100psi at WOT. I pulled it back apart and put the standard spring in it.. Now I'm at 50-55psi hot idle and 65-75psi max at WOT.. Not sure if it would have ever been a problem, but it made me uneasy and I was in there for another reason, so I swapped it out..
