Default Whats involved with swapping from a 6 speed to an automatic?

I am looking for a built fbody and I just keep coming across nice 6 speed cars. What has to be done to swap from a 6 speed to an automatic in a fbody?
I know I will have to swap shifters. IM guessing pedal assembly? What about driveshaft?

what kind of auto? you can take the clutch pedal out or zip tie it down to the floor or put auto pedals in. if your just going from t56 to 4l60e the drive shaft length will be the same if your talking ls1 cars. whats your plans?

you will find a lot more help in the stickies in this section too

Looking to swap from a 6 speed to 4l60e in a 99-02 camaro or trans am. Does the harness and computer have to change?

i know when going the other way, from a4 to m6, you can manipulate the harness to work with the new transmission. I would envision this being more difficult but less common. It would probably be easier to wait in the classifieds for someone wanting to swap to an m6 and just trading harnesses.

im in the middle of my m6 swap and it took me about two days to find everything but the transmission and to sell of all my old stuff as well.

There are so many stickies for this swap its not even funny. Try the sticky up top or search. Youll find complete lists of parts and a ton of info for the swap.
