Stock Govenor starts a 120 MPH???
Hay guys i found my self in two races the other night one was against a RAM truck with the HEMI...I blew past him and he couldnt keep up. Then there was this newly purchased 350z (still had dealer tags). Well for the first 1/2 mile I had him but once I hit 120 Mph he began to slowly pull on me, then we ran into traffic. I'm trying to figure out was that the governor not letting me go past 120 MPH or what???????

I have mine tuned out with the Superchips Cortex! Reached 140 once racing a new 335i BMW (320hp twin turbo V6). Was a pretty scary race going that fast, but he just would not give up. Had to show him what was up!

you know whats funny, i was racing a guy in a brand new 335i when i hit the 140 range too. he wouldnt give up either. that cars pretty sick. he still had the temp plate and everything and it was a pretty close match up. i also agree that it was a little on the scary side, but no one likes to lose. that and the monte felt surprisingly stable at that speed.

You were probably in 3rd, lol. That's why I don't play games on the highway while stock.
1:1 3rd gear ratio FTL.

Your torque converter clutch got you. It engages at 122mph stock when the shifter is in D. In Tap it will stay unlocked in 3rd. In Tap/4th it basically never unlocks.

you can go more than that now...
stockers are set to 140 - 149... dunno why, but different GM calibrations have the speed limiter set differently... I've tuned some that the stock setting was at 140, and others where the stock setting was at 149... heh, go figure...
either way, after I tune 'em, they're not limited to the 140's anymore... hehe...

Mine have seen 157mph no tune, right after I bought it would only hit 143 and would not got any further. Sometime after I put the cold air intake on it was when I notice it would it 157 and I could have buried the speedo if I hadn't run out of road.

If we're mentioning previous cars, my 87 FC saw 140 and my 02 GP GT saw 108, limiter lmao! Scared the crap outta me when it hit, too, was passing a few trucks, then all of a sudden notthing... Never hit a limiter before.
