Default Friends car sounds stock with Magnaflow+LT's

This is pretty strange to me. When both our cars were stock I had the hooker and he had magnaflow. They both were pretty quiet all around. After he added LT's it got a bit louder, but not much. A few months ago I did LT's, TSP 3" catted Y pipe and my car got way louder than his. Not so much at idle but at wot its even alittle too much for me. What gives? Could something be wrong with his setup?

I thought the Magnaflow was notorious for having almost stock-like sound until around 3K+ RPMs... I'd chalk it up to that.

I understand that. However why would one exhaust wake up to headers more than another? When they both just had exhaust only, they both sounded close to stock.

Still the muffler I have a mac catback on my car and my buddy has a magnaflow with manifolds both sounded stockish until u got into it. Now my car is def louder than his... Up top mine screams and his is more of a deep mellow tone... Magnaflows are notoriously quiet.

I noticed mine gets very high pitch, in a good way. Still pretty loud for me. The magnaflow still sounds good. Very mellow and deep like you said.

I am looking into getting a gmmg after my hooker exhaust falls apart. That might be too loud though. It doesnt bother me how loud it is at wot, but I cant have one thats loud at idle.

i put a stock catback on when i did LT's and an ORY and it sounds pretty damn close to stock, i love it lol i've had true duals and those were great for a time but then they just got annoying and the attention from police kinda sucked

Mine was the same way through my SLP Dual/Dual when I added the headers. It wasn't much louder than stock. After the cam I suspected it to get even louder and it really didn't. It has gotten louder over time though. My car just broke 40k and the catback was on it from the factory.

The magnaflow on my LT1 was soooo quiet. I was disappointed when it went on, ha.

Mine with Longtubes, ORY and Magnaflow catback.

Idle and under 3k, as mentioned is semi-loud but when you go WOT, it wakes right up

Sounds just like my friends. Some people talked about theirs not being broken in but how long does it take to break in a new exhaust?

chamber exhaust doesnt take a long break in period. cans that have fiberglass and stuff that are broken in. I have magnaflow and it quiet until higher rpms and my buddys hooker exhaust is pretty effin loud. Its just the way they are made. Magnaflow is good stuff.

magnaflow is much better quality, my hooker is making a rattle inside at idle. I think my next exhaust is going to be gmmg.
