Default Looking for hpt bin file for 2002 Express van

I'm needing a HpTuners bin file for an '02 Express van that is running the # 1251002 O/S. As I understand it, the file from the '02 Express MUST be the same O/S # as mine (1251002), so not just any one will do the trick...unless I'm mistaken. The file that is posted in the HPTuners repository appears to be a corrupt file,as I'm unable to open it with HP Tuners. I need the file in order to have a fuel sender segment swap completed on my original file, and HOPEFULLY, FINALLY have a correct reading fuel gauge.

Thanks in advance to anyone that might be able to help.

I checked it out...and found some possibilities. Please excuse my ignorance, but it appears that they are in .cal format, and I need .hpt format ??

Lots of .bin files, but none for you. I will convert a .cal to a bin for you

The segment you need should be the same as these bin files.
I just renamed them hpt so I could post them. You can open them the way they are.

If they won't work I can get you the correct OSID if you have a VIN.

These are the only OSID I have for a 2002 Express

Why did I ever buy it?
Oh I remember. It's a very long story and HPT couldn't tune that car either.

You guys that think HPT is good you should see what I can see and then you would all agree.

WOW

I need to look this file over in my software and see if I can point you into the direction, but I think you will have to step up and purchase a 2 bar license and that sucks, but I figured out mu software can look at HPT custom 2 bar operating system. I would have to say that means that they came from GM!!!!!!!

Whatever it takes, I guess. I'm just tired of trying to get this issue resolved. Seems weird that I HAVE a 2 bar OS, and I might have to pony up for another one just to get the segment swapped....but if that's what it takes to get it done, so beit.

I suppose that I could just send the 2 files to HPtuners, and see what they are willing to do for me? Whaddya think?

Go to the HP Tuners forum ask or just send in the two files and they will do the segment swap.

I can convert the HPT to a bin and then swap the segment. This isn't easy. I Think I will do it another way with a hex editor and just change the few lines for the Fuel System.

I will let you know later today.

Can you give me some detail to the car & fuel system?

Sure.

-1996 Firebird with a 5.3 and T76 using a 411 ECU with 2002 Firebird custom O/S (as you know)
-1998 Gauge cluster
-Custom tank with sump and external pump/controller

I have 2 different fuel senders available to use....one that is 0-90 ohms (same as 1998 Fbody), and one that is 30-240 ohms (same as 2002 Fbody). Neither one of these make the gauge read correctly. I'm assuming it's due to using the 98 cluster with the 02 ECU and O/S.

Thanks for staying on this. I'll try to make it worth your while. $$$

Default Fuel Tables Compare

This is an OE 2002 Z28
Fuel input is 20 & 150

This is how your setup

This is yours compared to a 98 Z28 OE.
As you can see the highlights are the differences and the fuel gauge outputs are the same. The differences are in the input setting.

The 98 cluster is driven from the PCM by the same signal as the 2002. 3/4 tank output from the PCM is the same between the 2 calibrations. The input is the same between the 2 also from what I can see in HPT. Your tune looks to be off compared to a stock 2002 Z28.

I will take a look and see if any other tables are different in my other software.

So, the actual control segment in the code is different in my ECM as opposed to a 2002 fbody ECM?? Am I understanding you correctly?

It has the Correct Segment ID#.
The 98 and 2002 have the same setting. The issue is your setting are different from the 98/2002.

If it was me I would purchase the license for the Custom OSID so you can tune it and then pust the setting for the Fuel System back to stock. If your tank is not 16 gallons then you will to adjust that setting.

If that is the only thing you need to change then that is what I would do.

If you wanted to go the cheaper way. You could start over with a stock calibration. This would not require the 2 bar extra license

I already am able to tune this file. I've tried it in "stock" configuration, and also set it to what it is currently. I have a 21gal tank, and the range of the sender is reflected in the file that you're looking at. If you don't mind, I'll PM you my #....maybe we can get to the bottom of this quicker over the phone??

I haven't done the software side of tuning in a few months. Instead of swapping the segments I am setting up JET's DST & TunerCat with the required parameters to tune a F-body like a Express van. I am down to about 4 left to fill out.
Then my tuner friend PoconoJoe can do this also.
