Default torquer v2 good for stock heads/gears daily driver?

I watched a few idle videos and really like how it sounds. I know everybody recommends the 224 or 228r for a daily driver with stock heads and gears (m6) but I want something that sounds a little meaner. I don't mind a little cam surge. Heads are just too expensive for me. Also my car has 76k miles and I want the motor to last as long as possible but I do Eventually want to cam it should I stay away from bigger cams like the torquer? I baby my car car 95% of the time don't do much racing

If drivability and valvetrain life is very important to you, I would possibly get something a little smaller like a 228r or 228/232 cam on a 113 lsa and still make excellent power and noise. A torquer v2 should only be giving around another ~5hp at peak but I don't know how good it is for a true DD.

TV2 will buck down below 2000rpm it does not require 4.10s but they help if you plan on DD.

When the tune is right, it should be much lower than 2000 RPM before you see any cam surge like that. I wouldn't be concerned about DD that cam. Put good springs in w/ chromoly pushrods and you should be fine. We have a lot of customers that run them with factory gears w/out an issue. Get someone with some experience to tune it and you shouldn't have any problems!

I run the tq.2 cam for the last 70,000 miles. No problems. I have 115,000mi. on my goat now. This cam is great for a dd. I get no bucking/surging unless Im under 1200rpm's. Cam comes alive around 3,000rpm's. and peaks about 6200-6300rpm's. So you don't have to rev it to the moon to get the most power out of it. A good choice if you ask me.

sweet! that sounds really good, what lsa does yours have? What is the deal with lsa anyway? higher lsa gives more peak power at a higher rpm and smoother idle while lower lsa gives more power lower in the rpm range and a more lopey idle? Is that the idea?

I run the TV2 in an auto with 2.73. It bucks some around 1500 rpm when the converter locks, but drives fine most all the time.

I have the 112 lsa. Im not sure how the lsa works, I just know the lower it is, the more choppier it sounds... here is mine right after the cam install a few yrs. ago.

I'm with this guy.

My tuner spent a LOT of time on this. Between 1400-1600rpms, it was bad. He was able to ALMOST eliminate it by pulling timing at specific rpms, etc. The trouble was, when cruising around parking lots, over speed bumps, etc., this is the rpm range you're in with 373's...worse with 342's. What made me truley love this cam for a DD was going to 411's. Now I'm well over this dreaded rpm range when rolling through parking lots. Cruising rpms on the highway and around town is dramatically improved. No buck at the speeds I want to drive and 6th gear is usable again. When flogging the car, there is no bog or waiting for the power and launching is easier. ABSOLUTLEY GET 411's with this cam for a DD. This is my 3rd and favorite gear set.

Sound clip in the sig.

sounds exactly like what my tuner went through he spent the better part of a day on it. It is very daily driveable with the 4.10s but when it had 3.42s it was driveable but IMO it was not a daily. Everyone has a different opinion of what daily is and riding a bucking bull is not mine.

I am glad to see all this feedback because this is the cam I bought for my 6.0 going in my S10 with a t-56. I also think my mind has been made up the gears and that will be 4.10's. I have the ford 8.8 going in with 3.73's in it but i will change to 4.10's.

That cam will drive even better in the bigger motor. Good choice. Just get some compression behind it and you should be in good shape!
