I've run several LT1's and right now I have a 94 camaro setup in my wife's 70 camaro and a 5.3 in my 68 firebird and the LT1 camaro runs off and leaves my firebird. It's just a lot torqueier motor, and for off road, that's what you want. Just keep water off that opti-spark.

ive had 2 lt1 cars and as much torque as they provide 'off the shelf' i prefer to not deal with the opti/etc if i dont have to. Since theyre both iron it levels the playing field, but i think since the lm7 is part of the ls family youll have a much better time modding it, which i assume youd do (i would if i was doing a nissan swap ... especially on an off road truck )

also, adjusting valves blows

Go with the LM7, it's a much better platform to build up

BTW, thats not a LT1, or even a LTx engine. Its a vortec headed SBC. Notice the conventional location of the distributor. LTx engines moved it forward behind the balancer. Those CPI vortecs were not known for major power

+1

the spider injection has it's issues.

That engine looks like ones found in late 90's trucks.

i think will have some new trouble adapting throtlle to a mechanical one and waiting for start it, do you think engine will start with original ECU???? or will have to buy some open ecu like haltech or motech , etc

You need to have original lm7 PCM modified, such as vats turned off and any emissions equipment you don't wanna run. Be sure to keep front O2's turned on.

Hi guys, finally we modified all fitment and transmission stuff, so LM7 is on the way. we had to cut a little bit of firewall to make transmission stay in original position. by now our homework is make it run with original ecu, hope to have not much trouble on this, we have sensors and pedal with tac module , take a look, any comment is welcome

Default Problem w ecu

Hi guys, im having some problems when starting LM7 with original ecu on my 4x4 swap, it seems to be a problem with anti theft system , we are using maf, o2s, and other frequently used sensors, we have injection pulse, spark pulse and when we start it, it runs like 10 sec and then shut down, what do you think is going on? and what should i do? buy an open ecu is not an option right now.

thanks
