Well, my girlfriend's been wanting a new car, specifically a GTO, so I thought today we could go check one out so she can see how she would like living with one. Went to a local dealer, took this baby out for a spin, and now we are both in love....the ride and seats alone make me want a goat.

....and yes, she can drive the 6 speed.

Only a small rip it the top of the stiching on the seat, and a small scratch on front quarter. Also, smells like previous owner was a smoker, but just a slight hint of that. She wants a silver LS2 (wants hood scoops) though, but for the right price she might get this one. There's also not a silver ls2 6 speed around for like 300 miles.

Car drives good, and pulls hard, doesn't feel as strong as my car though Weight and less power obviously. She also likes that she doesn't feel as if shes "dragging her ***" as she says.

So how do you like the car and deal?

I'd offer them a bit less.. looks like a nice car tho.. I am trying to go look at an 05 GTO m6 for 13K here with around 60K miles..

I hate to see a pretty girl like that 'settle' for a smoker's car that has a few issues. I'd also like to know about the previous owner to see if it was abused or maintained. Try to swing her into a 'clean' LS2 GTO for a few thousand more. It may be well worth it. I am going to emphasize something to you as well, DON"T BE AFRAID TO TRAVEL to find the right car. It will be the best few hundred bucks you ever spend (gas, fast food, lodging). If you are going to spend good $$$ for such an important purchase, do it right and get the right car. Good luck!

I agree with this guy. If she really wants a silver LS2, don't settle (if you can call it that) for a black LS1. That GTO is damn sweet but it seems like yall have the "gotta have it" itch. Have patience grasshopper.

I think if you can knock a couple thousand off the price it'd be a good buy. I think GTO's tend to be a little more pricey than they should be most of the time.

BTW, your gf looks like my gf especially with the glasses on only you got blond version 1.0. You have good taste.

I would pass and get what she really wants. IMO I wouldnt consider a 04 GTO unless the price was great b/c I like the 05's looks better and you get the LS2. I mean if she wants to add a hood latter your probable talking close to a grand right there. But I agree with everyone else dont settle. I know its hard, but take your time and find what you want

Personally, I would stay away from that car.

- Smoker (I can't stand even a hint of that smell in a car)
- Black (she wants silver, I love silver too and I would never be happy with another black car)
- LS1 (if I was going to buy a GTO, it would have to be an LS2)

On a more personal note, I don't like all the "darkness" of that car (tints, wheels, lenses, body color). It's too much. I like some contrasts on a car. But all that really matters is what your GF likes; although it sounds like she'd be settling for this car anyway, so I'd say to just pass.

You might be able to get the smell out with good steam cleaning, especially getting the headliner steamed or getting an odor bomb. I have not tried that, it is just what I have read on websites.

Thanks for the replys everyone, I think she's leaning towards not settling anyways. She really likes the wheels, exhaust, and tint, but those can replaced anyways (if I can get her to spend money it). I'd also like to get ther into a lower mileage car anyways, since I've seen <50,000 LS2's go for ~15. Hopefully we can find her something along those lines.

I know about not settling myself. I waited forever to find my car, drove 200 miles to get a stock 6 speed with t-tops, not black or red LS1, at a decent price, and I couldn't be happier.

Maybe if you weren't over 1,000 miles away

what dealer did you find this one at? i almost got an 05 6spd midnight blue GTO from Lou Fusz on Page a few years back for about 18k with only 12k miles on it

Ha thanks. Anything LSx is hard to come by around here, so its slim pickin's...I think she's for sure holding off until we find a silver 6 speed LS2 with lower miles anyways.

Agree with everyone above, wait it out till you find a silver ls2. Ive had a black car and it was a royal pain in the *** to keep looking right. What made matter worse is oklahoma air is infested with red clay dust, we pretty much drive through a sandblaster everyday.

It is DEFINATELY worth the wait to get an LS2. Don't buy the 04.

I've got an 06 for sale. It isn't Quick Silver Metallic, but it's Cyclone Gray Metallic. It's got higher miles than you may be looking for but it's a 2006 and an M6. It's not a smoker, and is very clean. Pretty much stock so you could do what ever you want to with it. Overall in great condition. I'm including a link to a craigslist posting for it. It will also be on ebay come Tuesday.

I'd be willing to drive to meet a buyer.
