What is the top speed once you remove the limiter on an LS1? I know it depends on gears but an estimate would be cool.

I'd guess around 167-175 (w/LOTS of room to get there) in a M6 stock...

I had my needle buried at 155mph and the revs were still climbing and I was virtually stock at the time.

I think in an M6..top speed comes in 5th...but i have buried my A4 with 3.73s...

Yes, top speed is in 5th gear with an M6; 6th gear bogs the engine down out of it's powerband too much, even with 4.11 gears. Even then you loose a lot of rpm when you go to 5th, so you need to stay in 4th gear until you are above 6000 rpm. I think the speed limiter is at 162 to 164 mph; that's about as fast as a stock LS1 car will go, and you need some space and a fairly low altitude to do it. Modified cars can go faster of course; I know of one guy that went 190 mph with a car that dynoed at 430 hp. I went 161 mph on salt at 4500 feet altitude with some throttle left, and I did it within the first mile from a dead stop. This would be the equivalent of about 180 mph on pavement since there is higher rolling friction on the salt. If you think you might try some high speed runs, make sure you have at least 40 psi in your tires, or they will get hot and come apart. Metal valve stems are a good idea as well. Also make sure your tires are speed rated, at least ZW for 168 mph. And remember if there are any other cars around, they will pull right in front of you because they don't even see you coming at that speed.
Good luck!
