I purchased a cd changer for $85 from this guy (Doug Ratzlaff aka Low N Slow) several weeks ago in order to have in the car for a 1500 mile trip. It was shipped to my sons army base where I was picking up the car prior to his deployment to Afghanistan. My son called to tell me he could not install the mount as one screw hole was stripped out and the changer did not work/play cd's, and it arrived with some loose parts inside.

I informed the seller quickly and prior to picking up the car. He accused my son of damaging the changer and claimed it worked when he shipped it. To be fair on my end I said I would have it checked by a stereo shop and inform him of the results, which he agreed to, and I did this within a very short time period. They could not determine where the loose parts were from inside the unit, nor the cost to repair. I informed the seller of this and he did nothing. I filed a claim with paypal and sent the unit back to the seller requesting a full refund, and instead Mr. Ratzlaff has told me I should file a claim with the shipper and he is done with the transaction, and refused shipment of the box and he was not even sure who it was from as there was not shipping info? Really?

In all my experiences, the seller/shipper is the one who secures insurance and makes any claim for damage caused by shipping, especially if there is no visible damage. The box was not damaged when it arrived, nor the outside of the unit itself. I've done as I said I would to be fair to the seller. He has lied in regards to the box not having any info on it, so he could justify not opening it and checking for the damage HE claimed we did, and has made NO good faith effort to refund $ or verify the issue. If he'll lie once, then there is no reason to not believe at this point he shipped a defective item to start with. I'd be very hesitant to do business with this guy as he has proved he cannot be trusted to tell the truth or deliver the goods in working order.

Very sad, as our men in uniform and their families deserve much better then this. Thanks for the heads up and hope things work out better for you and please tell your son thanks for his service and thank you for sharing him with our country!

Don't sell anything to this guy, Dan Sherwood, he is either a scammer or a dad who doesn't believe his kid is capable of screwing up and not telling the whole truth to him.
I sold him the cd changer like he said. The changer worked fine when I pulled it and I hooked it up and tested it with 2 different cartridges right before I boxed it to ship. It also had the mounting brackets attached to it. If there are stripped mounting holes his son did it. The loose parts inside was a new story a couple weeks later after he got the car back from his son.
I got a notice from Paypal, before I was informed he was even shipping it back, that he was trying to get $100 back for a $85 sale. This happened when I was out of town and had not checked my messages, at this point I thought we were still going to work something out. Then I did get a package with the name of a storage company on the return address and some parts rattling around in it. I had UPS return it to the sender.

My mistake on this sale was shipping to someone other than the purchaser. I would have worked with the guy if he hadn't been a dick and tried to open a PayPal claim.

Ok, so here is your chance to be fair. I sent the changer back to you with the loose parts inside in a baggy. Maybe it was damaged in shipping coming to me? You could have looked inside easy enough and verified that there was NO damage caused by a screw running into the cartridge. You've chosen to refuse the pkg and ship it back to me because "you didn't know who it was from or what it was".

I'm not sure I believe that, but knowing that you, me and most everyone that gets a part they ordered delivered and it's not right, returns it to the merchant asap, and we expect a refund, what is fair from your point of view? I asked for $100 refund. $85 for the purchase price and $15 return shipping.

I've done everything I said I would on my end. Your turn. What's your proposal to make it right?
