Default My LS1 in a coupe Mustang

Here are some pictures and a video of my Mustang with an LS1.

It’s a 79 Coupe with 93 front end and 93 Dash. All the A/C components do work so I'm going to get the A/C working on this swap.

The motor is out of a 99SS Camaro, Its all stock other than the FAST intake and cam. I'm running a built 4L60e transmission with a 3200 stall. I went with the AJE K-member, Kooks 1 /78 headers and an aftermarket wiring harness. For fuel I had a Weldon fuel pump in the shop so I ran #10 from the tank to the pump, #8 from the pump to the regulator and #6 return back to the tank. I did not want a sumped tank so I got a In tank pick up tube with the #10 and #6 fittings already welded on it.

Here is a short of parts I used

AJE K-member with LS1 Motor Mounts, MU-30UM K-Member with MU-30 Mounts

Kooks 1 7/8 Header

There are 2 different wiring harnesses you can go with. My last build I used a company called Tech Rods and the harness was of VERY great quality. Every connector was labeled as to where it went, I wanted to go with then again but I could not get them to answer the phone or e-mail so I went with this company. This harness is very nice also but the harness was not labeled, you have to actually read the instructions to see what wire goes to what component. It is still easy to hook up.

The harness is cheaper of you go 6 speed or non-electronic transmission

This is the Website for Tech Rods, they are also on E-bay:
http://www.techrods.com/Products/Products.htm

For the Fuel System I ran a Weldon fuel pump with a #10an line from the gas tank to the pump, #8an from the pump to the fuel rails and#6an from the regulator back to the tank.

I did not want a sumped tank because I personally think they look ugly on a street car so I went with this set up:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT

I built my Transmission cross member but I did seen somewhere you can buy a transmission cross member.

I will have to get the measurement on the driveshaft Center to center. I know it is 46" from center of the transmission yoke to the flange on the 8.8 rear-end.

Here are a few pictures I took while putting everything together. I still have some things to get done but its ready to drive when I get the interior back in this week.

Motor still needs to be tuned, Having the X pipe built this week and then we will hook up the wide Band and get it tuned...

Yeah I know, but some are using the 4.6 mounts to have a lil more clearance with oil pan.. Anyhow, thanks for answering the question!

Nice swap, can you detail more info on how you will get the a/c to wok? I want to do the same swap on my 88GT but I would love to retain A/C, Thanks Eddie

One of my good friends was a AC Tech for Ford so he is going to get the car in a few weeks to get it going. He said there is a place by his shop that can make the lines and he is going to do the rest.

No, with the solid motor mounts there should not be much movement. If I see any issue with it I can re-inforce it any time if needed

When it had the 302 in it I got pulled over a few times and they always checked the Vin. I would like to put it back to a 4 eye car one day.

Just depends on what you have, I already had the fuel system from my turbo car. Bought a wrecked car, parted it out and got the motor for free. We put this car together in 1 weekend and finished up the small stuff throughout the week.

Trans and Stall $1,000.00
Cam, springs and push rods $400.00
Radiator/Fans $150.00
K-member $360.00
Headers $660.00
Wiring harness $465.00
Computer $100.00
Drive Shaft $300.00
Fuel Rails $150.00
Tensioner and Belt $50.00
Shifter $50.00
X-Pipe for exhaust $200.00
Miscellaneous stuff $200.00

This total come to $5,585.00

Here it is about finished. I have a lot of small things to get done but it is tagged and inspected and running pretty good. Still have some tuning to do but it is running pretty good...
