Just wanted to share my dyno results for my 02 WS6, It orginally dynoed at 331 hp and 342 torque on a mustang dyno in 2005. At the time all I had done was Borla exhaust and a LS1 Motorsports cold air lid with K&N. I was really happy with it then but spent the next five years researching this site trying to figure out which route I wanted to take. Anyways finally went with TSP longtubes, TSP ory, and kept my Borla, I also went with a custom grind cam that I based off the VRX 4 with PRC dual valve springs and retainers. Also a 160 therm but no heads or intake. Anyways had it tuned at Auto-motion which is where I had it dynoed before. After the tune it put down 426 hp and 417 torque. I was really impressed with the gains and love the new found power. I also want to thank Rob Raymer for tuning my car. He did an amazing job and the customer service I recieved was unbelieveable. He tuned it on a Friday but had o2 sensor issues so he met me Sunday night after I switched out my o2s to check them. We still could not get them to read but after some research on here, I found out they were plugged in the rear instead of front plugs. Rob got me in early Wednesday morning and now the car runs great. He went way out of his way to help me with this. Thanks again, If your close to Louisville, Ky I highly recommend bringing your car to him.

Those are some good numbers. What are the specs on the cam? Your car is a M6? Also I can"t read the graph.

Sorry compgto, should of clarified (stock heads and stock ls6 intake). There has always got to be one smartass in the group! The cam specs are 228 232 .587 .591 112 Lsa with 4 degrees advance ground in. Pretty much the VRX 4, and yes car is a m6. I figured the graph would be hard to see the colors for the graph were really light and my scanner wasn't picking them up. Will see if I can get a better one. I really wasn't trying to pimp Rob. I never posted before because I didn't have anything to post about, but I have been following the site for years. It's amazing the amount of info that u can get from here. I mainly wanted to post because not too many have got those kind of numbers with just cam, headers, etc. and just wanted to see what u guys thought.

The VRX4 is a 228/230.

Congrats on the results. I typically see 415-420rwhp on every 228/232 I install. Been using that cam for years.

put it on a dyno jet dyno and see what happens.. take it to the track and see what happens.. Damian are you seeing those numbers on a Mustang dyno or dyno jet?

Dyno jet.

A 228/232 cam is not going to make 420+ on a loaded dyno.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought mustang dynos are more accurate and actually put out lower numbers than dynojet. Just what i've been told.

Dyno jet.

A 228/232 cam is not going to make 420+ on a loaded dyno.

Actually Damian, it did. And that was uncorrected SAE numbers. It made 380rwhp un-tuned, and 426rwhp fully tuned. Amazingly enough, it was well over 100 degrees in the shop the day I tuned it, so in better weather I honeslty believe it would make more like 435-440rwhp. Of course that's only my opinion.

A couple things I'd like to add:

First off, I didn't know bandit0278 prior to tuning his car a few weeks ago. I do know he bought one of my airlids years and years ago, but I honestly don't even know if we shipped it to him, or if he came in our store and bought it in person. And when he told me he was probably going to join LS1Tech just so he could post about his experience at Automotion, I think my reply was "oh boy...you sure you wanna do that?" And he said he was well aware of all the old drama, and wasn't worried about it. So I really hope you guys don't give him a hard time just because he's technically a new member, who's car I happened to tune. He bought his '02 WS6 brand new and said that he has been a "lurker" on LS1Tech ever since LS1Tech first hit the net. Because I appreciate his post, especially since he pretty much knew he would get grief over it, and did it anyway. So thanks again Jeff for allowing me to tune your car.

Second, our Mustang Dyno has MD's latest software. It was all upgraded in approximately April of this year. Since then, I believe the calibrations MD did made it read pretty close to Dynojet numbers (whereas before, it typically read about 7-10% lower than a Dynojet). We will be verifying that within the next week or so, when one of our customers has his car dyno'd at the local Dynojet and then brings it over to Automotion to be dyno'd just for comparison.

Lastly, his numbers don't surprise me at all. I've literally tuned over 100 LSx cars with similar cams/mods. Including my own cam and headers only '01 Z06, which made 449rwhp on a Dynojet back in 2004. And whether anyone chooses to believe it or not, I can say with certainty (at least in my mind), that the big HP #'s with these cam-only cars, are all in the tune. But I don't want to take anything away from TSP in that statement either. Because I've tuned countless cars with their cams, headers, etc., and they've ALL performed incredibly well! So kudos to Texas Speed too!!!!

Ok, it's dinner time. Flame away!!! :punch:

Here is a better pic of the dyno graph. Don't worry about the comment compgto, I would have done the samething.:engarde:

Rob, I wasn't flaming. I just have an aggressive opinion. :D

FWIW, I've installed over (20) 228/232 cams. They typically see 410-425rwhp depending on the car and the day, on a dynojet. I've also tuned some of these cars on a loaded dyno, and they were in the 370-390 range compared to the 410+ they made on a dyno jet.

However, if you say your dyno calibrations are close to dyno jet calibrations then it's definitely a believable #. Nice work.

Now get back to your shop and make some more direct flo lids. Then sell me about 30 of them. :thumb:

Damian - No problem at all. I think everyone already knows I'm a bit aggressive too, lol. And as soon as we get the dyno comparisons done, I'll be sure to post up the results.

As far as making more lids, I honestly can't believe there is still a demand for them! Aren't there enough options out there already? Seriously??

Regarding Bandit's dyno graph.....just as an FYI, that A/F is 12.8:1 pretty much all the way to 6300 rpm's. I'm only stating this because I noticed the A/F ratios didn't show up on the screenshot we sent him.

Rob, if you slapped that lid on ebay and made it comparible in pricing (or slightly better) than the SLP lid (around $95), you'll sell them all day long. There's still bone stock F-bodies out there needing lids. I get them in the shop all the time and I tell every one of them, "grab a direct flo lid if you can find one".

Ok, no more hijacking. Back to the regularly scheduled programming.

i say that dyno is about 10 to 15 hp happier.
