Question Can I use a 5.3 ECU on my 95 TA?

Fist off im going to appoligize up front. This is my first ever modern motor swap.

I have a 95 Trans Am. and im swapping out my LT1 for a built 5.3. And i am wondering if the 5.3 ECU will work and comunicate with my instruments?
The ECU I have is out of a 2004.

or would i be better off using a LS1 ECU and modiffing the harness.

I got the 2004 ECU and harness with the motor. and if its possible to use it that would be great.

There is tons of info on this out there. Run a search. The quick answer is you can use that ECU (as long as it is NOT a drive-by-wire only ECU) by either flashing it to an F-body (if using f-body harness) or wiring it using the truck harness (be carefull here if you plan to keep the A/C).

As for the gauges, the LT1 cluster does not get the data from the ECU, only for the Speedo. Everything else is an analog signal from engine sensors. Tons of info on that too.

Here's a few links I used:

Good luck.

Awesome thanks. I saw the sticky, right after I posted. I'm not running AC since I haven't had it for 4 years already. That's what my DD is for lol
