Gas tank trap door fell in the tank.
Getting gas today when I pulled out the nozzle I notices the little spring loaded trap door was gone.
Not sure if it just happened or I've been driving like this for a while.
Anyone else have this issue?
Is there a filter prior to the fuel pump?
Worried about if small pieces from the spring broke off.
Any suggestions other than taking the gas tank off?
Here is a pic.

I had the same thing happen a week ago. I have not noticed any problems...yet. Is it worth the money/time to get that piece out? Looks like a real pain-in-the-***.

Magnent won't work because the filler neck is kinda s-shaped, I would'nt worry about it untill I had to change the pump. There are 2 filter screens on the stock pump-the door is just sitting on the bottom of the tank. run it- I have to pull my tank today to change the pump, nothing with my first Racetronix but I just did a motor and trans soo while the car is already apart!

I remember the original thread on this, long time back. As I recall the consensus is that very few early build cars had it, my '06 Impy SS never had one and I have had it since it was a brand new pup.

It will be fine. You can flush it out if and when you ever change the fuel pump. It's to big to interfere with anything and will likely just slush around the bottom of your gas tank for eternity... don't worry about it.

I went in to get a drink once and the dude was trying to top it off ended up overfiling it, pulled out the nozzle gas flying all over the car. Long story short got a free car wash out of it.

So.. I'm just going to leave it in there. Sounds like no big deal, just get out when changing out fuel filters. However, with this mod, my car should be able to run on hangover pee?
