Drag Racing Tech - where to put my 400 dollars ?
09-30-2010, 12:27 PM
Trying to figure out where to spend my 400 dollars before i take it to the track. alright rundown of my car its a SI camaro with
ss4000 built tranny
ls6 intake ported TB
98mm lid/85mm maf
cheapo LCAs and PHB
Chromoly tubular k member and solid mts.
i have money to get my tune with an extera 400 to spend...
Im thinking Strange SA shocks and 275lb springs
or lightweight battery and spend the other 300 or something else ? give me some opinions i think it should go 11s but i want some insurance !

Do you have drag tires?
A used nitrous kit can be had for 400 ish.
The battery idea is a good one and maybe keep the $300 just in case!?

i have M/T drag radials, probly buy a lightweight battary, and something else for 300, i just wanna dead hook and i have a grudge street race from a dig comming up that means alot to me soo im thinking about front drag shocks !...im selling a nitrous kit thats why i have the 400 im keeping it stock internal for now

lol i could just roll into it to hook hit second and spray a 125 shot :) id win then...
I only lost to this car by 3 carlengths last time i raced him before the SS4000/built tranny, UD pully, FTP lid, 85maf, tune, k-member, LCAs, PHB and some weight reduction...so id say im gonna blow him away

and fully sealed ramair !!!

I'd leave the kit on the car and put it on a pushbutton, but that's me.

For a grudge race, having a little nitrous as a backup is never a bad idea, especially on the street. The suspension is a good choice for some weight transfer though.

in my pocket lol..pushbutton the n20 kit

How about a Wide Band O2 . well worth the money
09-30-2010, 09:16 PM
do you have an aftermarket torque arm?
09-30-2010, 10:19 PM
no, dont have a torque arm, and i tested my car out where we race tonight and it spins like a mofo if i try to leave hard, if i roll into it, it still spins like a mofo lol....whats my next mod ? torque arm or lightweight battary and something else...i still have LCA'S AND PHB to put on the car (and the nitrous kit is not on the car i just have it)
09-30-2010, 10:49 PM
thats what i was going to say tunnel mount tq arm. gL on your race:chug:

spray that bitch!
10-01-2010, 09:14 AM
nitrous is NOT AN OPTION, not doing it....tunnel mt. torque arm and relocation ? would that and LCAs and PHB help me hook up on the street (good pavement)
10-01-2010, 09:15 AM
oh yea and i still have a tubular k-member w/solid mounts to put in the car also !...with that and a few other odds and ends ill be loosing over 50lbs off the nose...that should help me hook
10-01-2010, 09:20 AM
A good set of shock would help, It helped me. And move you battery to the back to help weight transfer, and remove the front & rear bumper supports ans door bars.

I say buy some relocation brackets for your LCAs and get yourself some Strange rear shocks.

Adjustable Torque Arm.My car spins real bad on the street w/ Nitto 555r's but it hooks great on the track.
10-02-2010, 11:32 AM
im gonna wait on the drag bar until i can pull my rearend and paint it and get an anti-roll bar....so its between front adjustable shocks and 275lb springs, or adjustable body mt. torque arm ? im thinkin the front shocks would be beneficial....im also gonna install a lightweight battary along with my k-member LCAs and PHB and hopefully beat this guy !
10-02-2010, 12:36 PM
torque arm is going to be much more beneficial to you than front shocks, guys are going 1.3s on stock shocks and springs.
10-02-2010, 08:12 PM
yeah it all depends on if midwest chassis has to build me a torque arm or if they have them ready to ship because im going to the track oct.15th after my oct.11th tune so theres no time for that !...if not ill just buy the adjustable front shocks
