Default What lift can I go on an LQ9

I have an LQ9 with an ls6 intake I'm putting in a 73 nova. I'm looking for a cam and would like to know, what is the max lift a stock LQ9 can take? I would like something in the .610-.620 lift on a 112. The car is an 60% track car. It has 4.30 gears with a t-56. I'm running 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 long tube headers. What cam do you all suggest?

A stock LQ9 is spring-limited. If you're willing to change those, then your 0.620" can happen. Otherwise, something around 0.525", maybe 0.530"

I'm changing rod bolts, push rods, springs, and intake. I was looking at the ms3 cam on a 113.

An MS3 would clear w/ stock heads. A little more info. on what you are doing with the car and your goals for it would help make sure that is the right cam for your project. The duration is more critical on figuring out what will and won't clear. I would figure out what duration you are looking at and then see if there is a lobe profile that will get you close to the lift you are wanting while still having enough PTV.

227/231 @.050, .651 lift on 112LSA clears my LQ4 with 243 heads just fine.

My sisters car got totaled, so now it has become a daily driver. Looks like the time frame just got shorter on finishing the nova. Tubed the car this week now have 18 inches of room to work with in the back. Put new floor pans in and fixed a few rusty body panels. Looking at having Jason build me a trans when we find a great deal on one. I think we are going to run a stage 2 diamond clutch. But I need to find a t56 fast now. Looks like I will be giving Jon a call for a cam kit and gaskets to finish up the LQ9 tomorrow.

Look like I have a t56 lined up form Redrocketz28. Having him ship it to Texas drivetrain for a stage 2 rebuild.
