Thumbs up Anyone have ported head pics they would like to share?

Since my heads are coming off, figured id try my hand at more porting (done a few Iron heads and intakes) while they are off the car.

Any one have LE or AI pics (not trying to steal from the pros lol just wanna learn) Searched for couple days and couldnt find anything. If you do know where I can find some post the link please.

Thanks

Mine after porting, bigger valves and 5-angle valve job. There's probably a lot left in them, but for what I paid I'm more then satisfied.

No love for AFR stuff????? lol, they make a nice product. These are a "race" ported set. The CNC'ing is a step above the 'street" ported versions. The "comp" ported ones are even finer in detail than these pictures.

Im noticing a hole at the top of some intake walls, is that normal to leave open? Looks like a rocker stud goes there

Yes, those holes are for rocker suds, and it is perfectly normal. There are also holes for IAC air.

Hand blend CNC heads? What's the point? The finish is already ideal. They are AI 200cc ported stock castings.

Good stuff, just checking. So every other hole I make besides those would be bad right lol

Here's a problem with running stock heads that are ported. You don't know exactly how much material you can remove and still be safe. I just took this pic from a pic that one of the guys above me posted. Notice the highlighted red area:

It looks like the porter "gasket matched" the initial opening but didn't blend it far enough in. I'm sure that flow would suffer when it gets choked down quite a bit from the large initial opening to much smaller csa about a 1/2" in. If you scroll up and look at the picture you will see that the other port doesn't have this obstruction. Maybe it's just the angle that the pic is taken from, who knows.

Fixed the links, posting from cell and they didn't copy/paste the right ones.

Those are right after being milled so they have a little residue on them. They are not mirror polished, but very slightly textured, almost like leather.

Intake runner finish on EFI is not nearly as important as an old carb setup since modern fuel injectors do a much better job atomizing fuel.

Craig did them a while back BTW.

Yes...hahah. If you do poke into a rocker stud hole, that's okay. Just make sure you put some thread sealant on that particular stud when it goes back in.
