Road Racing - Harness bar mounting locations?

Not really sure where to put this, so if this is wrong forum please move it.

Anyway, I figured this would be best place to ask this question...
I am looking to put some corbeau cr1's in my car along with a harness. My question is what would be a safe place to mount a harness bar?

1.) It would need to be safe or out of way so that rear seats are accessible for the rare occasions, but a must.
2.) Obviously needs to be safe for front passengers as well.

Could I weld in a straight bar across the top to mount in where the stock front seat belts retract, and have it be safe? Or how about welding in some mounting smaller mounting points behind the front seats, in the rear passenger floor space?

Sorry, I'm completely ignorant on this subject and I am building my car for canyon cruising here in Cali. I'm going for light weight, excellent handling, and moderate power...in-case it helps/anyone wants to know.

^^ Yea, that one looks great, but I'm not too sure if it would be safe to have rear passengers...

Thing is, although it won't be a daily anymore, my girl and I have to take our kids to sitter when we go on long cruises and canyon runs. So, it's imperative that this also be safe for them even for short trips.

You can't have a solid and safe harness mount AND have access to the rear passenger seats.

And to mount a harness bar safely and securely ... you know, so that it actually works ... it is a PITA to install and uninstall.

What you want isn't possible.

I was afraid I'd get that answer. Can you elaborate a little on what the "right way" would be?
Are my ideas really unsafe or just not "ideal"? I thought the one for the rear floor area would be...ok...

Mounting to the floor gives very little protection and compresses the spine and collar bone.

The purpose is to secure you in the seat, not squish you in the seat.

How about the bar across the top? Kind of where the top part of a cage would be, and also would be above the shoulders so it wouldn't squish you. Thanks for the info so far.

edit: after reading the first link it seems that the bar across top (mounting at stock seat belt spots) would be ok. Maybe a couple inches lower than I had thought of originally. Seem do-able?

The max it calls for is 30* above the top of the shoulders. It also says that it is outside of optimum, but still acceptable.

I see two problems with it, though ... blocking your rear view mirror and finding a substantial structure to attach it to. The factory shoulder harness attachment would put it out of the 30* range.
