an awful lot... thinking of getting truck heads and spending more on machine work than it would cost just to buy car heads?

Milling should be a flat $50-80 even though he would have to take off ( .006-.007 x 6cc ) = .036-.043 inches.

but theres the potential for push rods. . . checking clearances. . . w/that much removed won't it make a minor change in the intake geometry (in so much as alignment of the runners AND the bolt holes?)

Yea, the intake will most likely fit worse than just bolting up ls6 heads milled .003-.004 for 64cc and might need 7.350 pushrods unless he gets a cam with a base circle around 1.420 where that will make up for it and he could still run hardened 7.400s if he already has them.

The intake will still fit fine. However, by the time you get cost in milling, pushrod length checker, pushrods, labor, etc. you probably could find a set of LS6 heads and not have to worry about it. Granted to do it right you still need to measure PTV and have a clean up mill done on the heads to ensure the deck surface is flat but that is up to you. If it's me, I would find some LS6 heads if you are wanting 64cc chambers on a cathedral head.

.036" would be how far they need to be milled to get to a 64cc chamber.

Are your pistons just dished, or do they have some valve relief to them for extra clearance? If they have some relief, you should have alot of clearance there, but as always, it is worth your time to measure it!
