4L60e Trans Compability 24x system
I just wanted to post on here and let you guys know that if you have the EFI connection 24x system and plan on using a 1994 or 1995 trans, it will NOT work.
The trans must be converted to the newer electronics. It will seem like it will work and it will drive normal for a few hundred miles but it will eventually slip.
I can explain more in detail about what needs to be changed, but I just wanted to post and give you guys a heads up.
It CANNOT be fixed by tuning. a 1994 or 1995 non-PWM trans will NOT work with an LS1 pcm. I left a voicemail with EFI to let them know this

True, but it's good to see this surface again.
We were aware of this from the beginning and have informed the 94-95 4L60E owners to work with a local transmission shop to update the internal solenoids and harness to be OBDII compliant (for 96-newer ECM/PCMs); something that does not require the tranny to be pulled from the car to accomplish.
The Impala SS forum has some great info about this...

I wanted to post this because I asked EFI's troubleshooting a couple days ago and they told me:
It would be best to change to the new electronics and internals. but also said that GMHTP has a project car that has gotten it to work.
I never got a really clear answer of why or what will go bad. But we know now that there are difference in the PWM and non PWM pump that are going to cause transmission failure. My car would drive good for about 500 miles and then the clutches would begin to slip.
My point of this thread is that this cant be corrected by tuning, it is a mechanical/electrical issue
