Default Need some help with lifters

I'm getting ready to put my motor back together, just got around to putting lifters back in. So, I had picked up a set of LS7 lifters from a member on here, and they turned out to be half good ones and half bad. He corrected it, brought the wrong bag the first time so I got 16 supposedly good ones.

Now, I was inspecting them and found more cracked, so I was kind of pissed. Then I decided to go back and look at my stock lifters, and also a set out of an LM7 truck motor I had in the garage.

I found that my "stock" lifters are identical to the LS7 lifters. Correct me if I'm wrong, but LS1's didn't have the fully shrouded roller, and should look like the LM7 lifters. If thats the case, how did my 98, which has never been opened, end up with LS7 lifters? Heres a few pics:

From left to right: 98 LS1 lifter, 2001 LM7 lifter, Supposed LS7 lifters

And heres the cracks on the lifters, what causes these?

Yeah they're in the motor already. Good to go! This was more of a why question.

I know, the thing I'm trying to figure out is how identical looking ones got in my 98 that has never been worked on since 2005 when the previous owner bought it. I'm assuming he might have been lying about the engine never being opened.

I wonder when they started using those. I know my 99 didn't have them, or my 00.

I'm doing a rebuild on a '99 that I believe is all original and it has the full shroud lifter like the one on the left.
