Will a stock 2002 vette tune work on a 98 z28 stock??

Default Will a stock 2002 vette tune work on a 98 z28 stock??

as the title says and yes auto on both I have a 98 z28 and noticed the vette has many different things in the tuning file. is it safe to change them? i know the engines are the same with slight differences

One is a cable throttle body and one is an electronic throttle body. No, it will not work.

PS, you can swap over some of the tables such as spark, etc. but you can't just flash in the whole tune.

In elaboration of what Ed said above... You CAN move some individual tables, but the 98LS1 and the 02LS1 are not 'exactly the same' as the internet may lead you to believe. Look at the timing tables between the two... the Vette's tables are much lower than your 98s up top and in the middle. That was not a mistake.

Why would youy want to do this in the first place? If your vehicle is stock, it's pretty hard to improve on the stock tune. If it's not stock, you need a tune based on your particular setup.

I'm guessing your new to the game.

No advantage of doing it, the 1998 PCM is different than a 2002. Overall, the performance would be the same.

Once you start adding mods, that changes everything, then you need a custom tune on and off a dyno with a WB 02.

As a rule you should never try to stuff a whole calibration
down a different platform / OS / year. And especially a
'98 or earlier.

Use the compare functions and copy only things you
understand, and mean to, into your known-good tune.

I am new to all this and I have only done compare tables I'm not stupid enough just to download a table and use it blindly and I do have mods about to put on. I heard that z28's were detuned because they didnt want to say that camaro's had the same power as vettes so they made the z tunings much safer but i can clearly see that ignition tables are different and so are the idles so is there anything i can do the car is pretty much stock soon gonna get exhaust ls6 intake and an intake for now but before i install those parts is there anything worth messing with? what about after i install them what should i mess with?

You shouldn't "mess with" anything... if you want the car tuned, it should be tuned properly using a wideband on a dyno to maximize the power output for the parts you have installed... tuning is not about cutting and pasting tables from another car - it is about using tools properly to find out what a particular combination of parts needs to maximize torque/power output...

well put and i do have a wideband sorry if i didn't mention that and my exhaust is true duals just done really poorly and k&n drop in filter. i just bought the car recently and it came with all these stuff all i have done is buy a wideband and hp tuner. i will buy an intake, ls6 mani swap and whole new exhaust system soon. i just wanted to mess with my tune so my car stopped sounding like it was breaking up at the mid rpms

scanning and thinking.

im not sure if it is a tuning issue i have a wideband just not wired up yet. after i wire it up i will know if im running lean or rich for now i will do what u guys say just leave it alone and then do my research and tune accordingly after i put in my upgrades
