Ok so I have been driving a new Camaro for a few days now. And debating what I should get. I am thinking about buying a stripped down 6 speed v6 model and building it the way I want. Has anyone driven or seen that version yet?

You say you have a new camaro, so what is in the one you have?

No it is a rental. the rental is a v6 auto car. sorry I originally typed that on my phone. i was actually curious of the differences between the v8 car besides the motor.

Is the subframe different? I know the brakes are different. Gear ratio? Rear diff the same? The front sway bar is tiny. I want to know what 6 speed manual comes behind the v6. And if i swap out the v6 if it will bolt to a v8 with a new bellhousing. Trim wise whats the difference between the cars. I like the v6 bumper better.

Looks like you have been into your car already...

Only reason I am trying to justify the 10 grand difference in the car and so far I havent found 10 grand worth.

I got my 1SS OTD for 32700.

My only extra option is the BA sound system. IF you got no extra options you are looking at 32k OTD. I am betting you could even find a better deal now on a left over 2010.

I would go 1SS if money is a concern. A stripped v6 for ~25k OTD isnt worth it IMO. You are going to spend more than 5k to be even with the LS3 stock...and you're still driving a v6 muscle car.

The interior in my 1SS is great IMO. The cloth seats seem to be very high quality and look outstanding. The black cloth interior is very attractive. The 1SS has power windows and locks as well as a power driver seat.

If you really want a v6 right now I would go with the mustang...they will run high 13's stock.

I don't want a v6. I just want a 5th Gen that I can do what I want with it. Can you get manual windows? If anything it will get a big block t56 and a couple of hair dryers.

The V8 cars are probably more than likely a better starting point. He's right about getting a left over '10 you could probably get a good deal on one.

If you're seriously going to rip the motor out and figure out to wedge a big block in there, the smaller V6brakes might be a better option for drag wheels, but beyond that it depends on how serious you are and how much power and what your goals are going to be to determine which would be a better "starting" platform.

Im assuming you wouldn't use factory exhaust either way so that wouldnt matter. You'll probably have to do re-do everything suspension, motor, tranny, rear end, all that shit anyway if you're going with a big block...which doesn't make all that much sense to me with cost-effectiveness in mind. That would be one hell of an expensive build.

I can afford the big block route especially since I will be selling the other stuff out of the car. I know, the alimghty LS is the only way to go. Not for me dont take it personal.

If you're planning to do an all out modded car and engine swap then there's nothing wrong with picking up an LS to start with. They will by far be the most stripped down Camaro available and it would be the better buy if you're going to be swapping the drive & powertrains out anyway. No doubt if you bought a 1SS you could get $5k-$6k for the engine alone, and then it would already be set up with a 6spd Manual, and so fourth. Make sure you post some pics wen you get it and keep us updated on the progress!
