hey all,

so i was thinking about how to install a cam in our ls1's. simply, can you install a cam without removing the engine?

If you can turn a wrench, and switch springs too (provided you've got the right tools) you can do this inside of 8-10 hours.

What are you considering putting in?

Good luck!

U can do it with motor still in the car. U pull off the radiator and condensor and ull have plenty of room to gank the cam out. Dont forget your dowel rods and spin the cam good and throw the rods in to hold up lifters just incase. I just finished my cam intake and headers swap it was very nice and worth every second it took. Good luck and yes have a buddy or two helpin ya out

Do some research on how to properly setup the valvetrain and check pushrod length. Most internet mechanics and LS1how.com will not explain this correctly. Most camshafts will also require a slightly longer pushrod than stock due to the shrunk base circle.

Good luck.
