I am very happy with Edge Racing Converters, they are cheaper than some of the others because they do not have the expensive billet cover which is why they are only about $525 as opposed to $700+ for some other brands. A street/strip NA LT1 doesn't need a billet cover though so it is a safe way to save some money.

If they can make my over two ton barge cut 1.53s NA they have to be doing something right.

make sure you get a tranny cooler as well when installing a converter.

I had a fuddle 3k that felt REALLY good when you got on it. It must have had some crazy STR (it had to be higher than they told me it was), and lower topend power, but it felt AMAZING when I got on it for how little power I had.

I never got it to the track because my stock tranny crapped the bed.

I then got a performabuilt 3200 which has treated me well but they are pricey.

One thing I'd suggest... don't go below 3600 even on a stock car. I'd never go this low again.

If I did it all over I'd have gotten a yank ss3600 or vig3600 right away.

What are your goals for the car in general?

And I'd personally wait and shell out some more coin on a converter or go with an Edge like Caprice said. Converter isn't something you skimp on

Got the Hayden 1405 trans cooler. My power goals for the car are about 375-400 at the crank.

Which ATI would you recommend??? Have a PN for a small diameter high stall 4L60E lockup unit?

No I dont. I'm an M6 car, I have friends who run them all and I like the way the ATI's perform the best.

Talk to Ed Wright, I believe Abare, and a LOT of other fast guys who have tried most of the converters out there, and stick with ATI.

Besides I wouldn't be giving someone a "part number" I would have them call ATI and have them put together something application specific...

Those cars you are talking about use 8" Treemaster non-lockup converters not really something appropriate for a street car. Believe about 4200 is as low a stall as you can get those in.

ATI absolutely makes a good product but I don't think they have a 9.5-10" lockup high stall 4L60E unit. Which is what the OP should be looking for.

Even the street converters I've seen work well, but so do Circle D, Yank, etc.

yes, yes they do Im happy with mine. I just need to stick a good tire and some drag shocks and hopefully ill be able to take advantage of it a bit more.

I've had some expierence with edge converters as well, they are very street friendly and feel like stock.

I just ordered a 2800 stall edge converter from probuilt. What else will I need? Probably some kind of tune?

Should have went bigger. Is it a lockup? If so there's no reason not to go 3400+. A quality converter drives great on the street.

yea.... with lock-up there's no reason to be that conservative on the converter. Edge does make a good converter, they're a local shop. A lot of quick cars down in san diego are running their stuff. not 4L60Es though.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say 2800 is fine for a street car. I ran a 3600 yank and couldn't hook for shut on street tires. With my 2500-2800 stall I have now I can take off alot harder without spinning. 3600 is good but you'll need suspension and tires to make it worth while IMO.
