Ok my friend is looking at a 2001 Pontiac trans am.... It's badged as a ws6 and also a nhra special editon? I was under the impression that you could no have both. Vin 2g2fv22g412120311! Rpo code labels it as a WS6 but along the lines it mentions 1sh nhra but it doesn't seem like it's showing that the car is the 1sh! Some one please enlighten me on this if you have any info.
I will say that it's one sweet ass car!

Vin2g2fv22g412120311 rpo codes sat it's a ws6 but also further down it lists as a 1sh but it does nit seem to refer that code to this vin? I was under the impression that you could not have both a ws6 and 1SH nhra special edition?? Some one please enlighten me?
Edit: this maybe a double type up but my screen does not show what I was asking so I will do it twice to be sure

I agree with you after looking in John Gunnell's Standard Catalog of Firebird. On page 204 it states 1SH was available but nothing mentioned about it being an option for the WS6 in 2001. Cost was $1,170 for either auto or 6 speed in '01. I also looked at the 2002 models on page 209 but nothing stated about the WS-6, just the regular Trans Am. $1,070 for the automatic and $1,095 for the 6 speed.

It's badged as both but who knows. Regardless it's a really clean car and completely stock with a 6 speed so hopefully he gets it... Still I do wonder why it has the badges

That is odd. When I was researching for my NHRA years ago, I was under the impression that it was either an NHRA or WS6, that you couldn't do both. However, im sure anything could be built to order. Could be a 1 of a kind type of car! Keep us posted!

You could not get both ws6 and 1sh together. The VIN posted has ws6 as an option, but not 1sh.
Are you saying on the RPO sticker on the door it is showing both?

CompNine's database for that VIN (http://www.compnine.com/vid.php?vin=2g2fv22g412120311)shows RPO WS6, but NOT 1SH. By "further down the list" (assuming you are referring to CompNine's page), you are probably seeing the listing of ALL the RPO codes that were available on that model for that year. Obviously, no car has EVERY RPO code.
If there IS a descrepancy between what CompNine shows and the decal on the door, that WOULD be interesting. Please clarify exactly *where* you are seeing both WS6 and 1SH listed for this VIN.
It may also be possible that the NHRA decals were merely added to a WS6 sitting on the dealer's lot (or by one of the previous owners). IIRC, some of the early NHRA cars were "dealer installed" options and therefore might not have 1SH (or all of the 1SH content like the Hurst shifter on a M6).

My brother's co-worker bought a NHRA WS6 TA brand new, and I was just at a dragstrip Friday where I saw another one. Good looking cars.

I was referong to compnines website vin lookup.... So it was just a full lusting of rpo codes to that year make and model car!! But I do belejve that they were prolly dealer installed or added to after being bought off the showroom floor. I found out it was a rebuild title after a highway accident involving a semi retread going under the car and damaging it which probably explains why badges on one side are missing! 60 year old man was the previous owner and only owner soo my friend is getting a great car for dirt cheap... Tommorrow I will look at the door to fullfill my curiousity and see if it has the 1sh listed on the door!

when i was looking at buying a ws6 back in 2001 or 2002 the dealership had one on the lot with the nhra special addition package.
So we can assume that some dealers installed the NHRA stuff, then. Whatever you do, make sure you get the limited edition NHRA key-chain that came with the car...
