Default How did you make your vacuum pump system?

Those of you with vacuum pump setups, would you mind sharing which parts you used and any pics of how you mounted the pump and ran the lines? I'm looking to add a vacuum pump in the near future and wanted to get an idea of what all is needed. TIA.

You will then need a custom length gilmer belt, (measure at moch up)
You will have to have a custom bracket made to mount to engine
You will need misc -12 fittings and hose (customize to your setup)
You will need a -12 bulkhead fitting for valve cover.
Last but not least you will need a vented (breather style) catch can with -12 fittings

Thanks T. I'll get started ordering some of this stuff. Should be a good winter project.

I bought my complete kit from GZ motorsports. Great setup that is almost completely bolt on (except for the valve cover holes needed)

Just by looking at your mods, it would help you. Might get you another 10rwhp. Helps ring seal and helps cut down on blowby and detonation. Also stops small oil leaks if you have any.

Default Vaccum pump

Whats up Kyle, its Ryan from the LTX shootout, glad to see you are adding one of these to your engine, you wont be disappointed. I personally have one from GZ motorsports, they can build everything to your specs and they cost a little less than everyone else. Hope to see everyone back at the shootout next year, hopefully with my car this time.

Hey Ryan! Thanks for your help at the shootout. I know you were helping out Kyle and I both.

How do you like the GZ motorsports kit? Looks like a nice setup.

How much vacuum are you guys pulling and are any of you using the pressure relief valve in the valve cover to keep the vacuum at a specific level?
Also is this a drag car only mod or will it work on a DD street/strip car as well?

It works great,it still pulls 15 inches of vaccum 3 years later and I drive it on the street every weekend. Glad I could help you guys,I had a lot of fun.
15 is the max you want to pull and yes I run a relief.

What's up Ryan!! Glad you jumped in and said hello. I've really wanted to tell you thanks for all the help at the shootout and I definitely hope you can bring your car next year.

Sounds like I'll be giving the GZ Motorsports guys a call very soon. Thanks for the info!

I know this is an old thread, but i find this very interesting. How does a vacuum pump help prevent detonation?

The pump keeps your intake charge contamination to a bare minimum, oil and nitrous = detonation = broken pistons.
