Default 4L60E auto shifter options

Gathering the stuff I need to install the LS2 drivetrain in my 55 Olds 88. The engine and trans are from an 06 GTO, but I was wondering if there are other floor shifter options I can use other than the GTO? I didn't get the shifter with the stuff I bought and GTO shifter assemblies are not the easiest to find.....

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

Joe

I personally like the look of the OEM shifters and they operate much easier for a street car. There are many GM vehicles that were equipped with the 4L60E and had floor shifters. Ebay is a great source or your local pick and pull salvage yard. It will probably be easiest to install a cable operated shifter. A few vehicles I know off the top of my head:

4th Gen F-Body
Late model S10
Trailblazer
Impala SS
Corvette
GTO

I am currently adapting a 89 Toyota Supra auto shifter to a 4L60E in the LS1 Supra swap we are doing. Anything is possible.

I used a Gennie shifter, works fine for me. I'd recommend a Lokar after using both though. You can get more shift **** choices with the Gennie but they make an adapter for the Lokar shifter that eliminates that hiccup. The Gennie does give you more shifter (lever, arm, whatever you call the vertical piece that the **** mounts on). That was the deal maker for me but I had to get a seperate rear mount shifter kit for my car. Bottom line: If you get a Gennie, don't ebay it, talk to a dealer and get what you need directly, you'll need to specify more than likely.

I'm using the column shifter linkage kit to adapt my OEM to the 4l60. http://lokar.com/interior_pages/colshiftlink.htm

Thanks for the responses. I plan to go with a custom interior, with a console so I'd prefer a floor shifter. I like how the GTO assembly looks but will check out the other ideas listed as they may be more easily sourced.

I also used a column shifter. Gives lots of choices of what to do with a console without a shifter in the middle of it. Just something to think about

Point of clarification on my post. My conversion is in a 95 FZJ80 Land Cruiser. It has a floor shifter. I am just using the linkage kit to get from shifter to the tranny.

Trailblazer, has reverse lock out and use the TCS button for NOS. I've thought about using one myself.

the gto stuff looks nice, but they have notoriously weak linkages (friends who shift from park with a pocketknife.... lol ) so make sure to do some looking before you decide
