Default Safe to notch out floor bump (drivers side undercarriage)?

Not sure where this belongs I figured a better response here as I have never seen an LS1 with a aftermarket Y that had a flat spot in it like I got with my pacesetters.

Anyways....the "bump" I am referring to is the bump on the drivers side undercarriage that the stock fuel lines run against, the bump that is the reason most LT1 Y pipes have a flat spot so they can fit. I can get pics if needed but I explained best I could so I hopefully don't have to.

I may have to notch it out for exhaust reasons. Does this thing serve any purpose? To structure or anything? The only thing I see it doing is it has a bolt in it for the fuel lines and also has a trans brace bolted to it but not where I want to cut.

that is floor bracing....depending on what's already done to the car and how far you notch it will determine any adverse affects. If you have subframe connectors and you notch it and then fill in the cut section (like frame notching on really low trucks) then you should be fine. It was put there for a reason, so unless you're planning on building a full cage into the car I wouldn't just go hacking things....maybe talk with a chassis shop before you just do it...

Yes you can cut it, however, give it its structural integrity back by welding in a plate/support. Dont just cut it and leave it.

Guys, that hump in the floor pan was a carry over from the 3rd gen platform. What's big and ends up right under that hump in the floor on 3rd and 4th gens?? Catalytic Converters.

That guy did a nice job on this floor there. what I don't see is any detail about the mods to the rail or the transmission crossmember, just that he modded them. I'm curious how much modding to those bits he had to do.
