9" is a really odd size... 265/35 would be the perfect size for that rim, but it would be too short for the car... 275/35 would be the only size that would work... 245/40 would work best on an 8.5" rim and a 275/35 works best on a 9.5" rim... 285/35's work on 9.5's or 10's, and 295's work on 10's or 10.5's...

So do you think the 245 40 18 would be good for the front and 275 35 18 for the back?

none of my 275s in the front have rubbed. this is assuming the offsets of your wheels aren't something weird. i would run 275s all the way around 245s are getting skinny.
