Default Cheap but not "cheap" exhaust set-up. Any thoughts?

Pacesetter coated headers, TSP ORY Y, TSP Rumbler cat-back. Around $1000.00 shipped. I was looking at spending a lot more, but this looks to good to pass up for an 01 Z28. Any thoughts or experience with this set-up? Quality, loudness, rasp?

ORY = rasp

As a preemptive move for future posts....a 'correctly' built Y using the Flowmaster merge collector is 'rumored' to eliminate rasp in an ORY scenario, I have yet to hear one.

Can honestly say I haven't heard any of TSP's stuff...but for $1000 on a complete exhaust from heads to tips sounds good. Probably too good...so I would ask what your quality expectations are. In other words, though there are deals to be had out there, you might be getting what you pay for.

If you have a good reputable exhaust shop near you see what they can do for a custom system. My local guy is building me a 3" mandrel bent cat back with a magnaflow muffler and a 3" manual cutout after the y for $240. I dont know the price on the Y pipe yet because he said hes gonna need the car on the rack to build it.

Sounds like a winner to me. TSP is a very good company from what I have gathered.

If you want to go even cheaper go with the headers, ypipe, and electric cutout after the ypipe.

FYI...same price, size and bend as TSP Rumbler...except they use bullets

The bullets are a bit to loud for my taste. I have nothing against any of the current exhaust companies, im just on a budget and my guys doen the exhaust systems on my last four cars and does great work and stands behind his product. I like having someone local to talk to if a problem ever arises. We could point out things for days why an aftermarket system would be "better" but as far as flow, i dont see there being any difference aside from im sure the magnaflow direct fit muffler is more restrictive than the bullets, but thats what the 3" cutout will solve.

How do you guys feel about the pacesetter lts? Any fitment issues or problems out there? I've read that they are the best bang for the buck. I think I'm gonna go with cats though to keep the rasp away.

Pacesetters are great.

TSP ory + lts with their cb is going to be very loud and raspy. It will sound much like a loud mouth 1.

It will sound good IMO. TSP is a good company. As far as being raspy has anyone ever noticed how raspy 4.6 mustangs are with no cats?? and everyone over them.

I feel thats a good set-up you can install yourself without having to get an exhaust shop involved. The new TSP ORY has a much better merge than before, the rasp you always hear about is a result of bad merges on older designed Y's from alot of manufacturers. Everyone has taken notice now and redesigned them for better flow.
I ordered my Pacesettered and ORY from TSP back in the day, great service, easy to work with. I got the older Y and had it modified with the Flowmaster Merge, sounds great and performs great. For $1000, you can't go wrong with what your looking to buy. You could try to piece it togther but it may be more. Try to find some sound clips of the Rumbler to make sure thats the sound you want thought. All exhausts sound differently....I'm on my 3rd cat-back right now.

Hmmm the one I heard was probably an older design because it was nothing but rasp.

I love my Pacesetter coated headers. Had them almost a year and they look brand new. Can't believe I almost spent $1400 on stainless!

I'd have a hard time paying that when I paid $825 shipped for an all stainless system from LPP, long tubes and true duals. You just have to be willing to deal with a lot of interior noise which isn't for everybody

That's a bargain! A while back I was qouted nearly $1400 for just ARH Headers, Catted y-pipe, and shipping.

I just want to point out that the new TSP ORY's all have the Flowmaster merge style merges. They haven't updated their picture, but they updated the catted version if you want to see an example.

@The Blue Knight - LPP and ARH are in two different categories as far as quality, fit, and finish are concerned. I will let you decide which is better and which is worse.

I would recommend that you get the coated headers OP.
