Default wish me luck

I heard about a car show the other day and decided I'm going to go try my luck tomorrow and see if I can win a trophy with my GXP.

I spent about 3 hours washing it, most of that time was spent on the wheels and engine bay. I forgot to take pics of the engine while I was in the garage, but I'll take some tomorrow.

A few of you might remember the infamous grasshopper incident a month ago. While I did find and remove two carcasses from tight spots of the engine bay, with this being the 4th or 5th wash, I'm still surprised my car smells like wet grasshoppers. I don't see any others, but the smell of raw meat is still there to some extent... LOL -__-

The time spent on the wheels was cleaning the insides, the bilsteins, and the inner fenders. I did the best I could in that amount of time, so hopefully it'll look pretty good tomorrow in daylight and I can score a trophy. I believe I'll mostly be competing against GTOs and G8s in my category. Wish me luck guys!

LOL I'll get the GTOs and G8s disqualified for being Australian. Wait. Weren't GPs built in Canada?

<_<

>_>

Maybe I shouldn't bring that issue up.

The local Pontiac/Buick/GMC replaced my front rotors, so I assume they are the OEM type. They don't have a slight gold tint to them like the rear ones and my old front ones did, but... I assume they are the same. They haven't been on there very long and I've been using manual mode with minimal braking since I had them changed.

She cleans up real nice!

Do you leave the inner fender wells natural or do you use tire dressing on the plastic bits? I like to use a foaming tire shine to restore the black finish.

Good luck at the show.

I scrubbed them real well with Turtle Wax brand tire cleaner--what I use on the wheels. They've had a dusty cement-like dusty stain on them for some time now that wouldn't come off in regular washing at car washes. It seems like it came off though. I used the wheel/tire brush I have to do it. Had to use my fingers to do the Bilsteins--brush wouldn't fit.

It's hard to get in there and clean that area, but I can see how tire dressing would improve the look of them!

Speaking of hard to get into... I really wish our front brakes were half an inch smaller. It's impossible to clean the inside of the wheel where the caliper is. Hopefully I didn't leave a 6 inch long area of brake dust on each side.

Take the tire's off. I take mine off and the car on jack stands before the World of Wheels and washing and waxing all under the car.

This was just before the Star Pontiac/Buick show in Easton, PA. I jack both sides up and scrub the fender wells and rims.

Well, no luck winning. Just not my day. I did have about a dozen people stop and talk to me about my Grand Prix with V8 swap (as most people seem to think it is), which was fun and nice. I'll post some pictures from the show probably tomorrow when I have nothing to do.

My mom and sister ended up taking the Camaros, and neither of them won trophies either. Could have been due to buddy-buddy relationships in the car club that sponsored the event, but the competition was actually pretty stiff, and they didn't segment the cars into classes at all. It was just a lump sum of all of us competing for 20 trophies.

Fun event overall and it was nice to have my hood open and watch a few people do double-takes when they see what's inside.
